Hello! This post is for Splinterlands Social Media Challenge. After playing Soulkeep for a long period of time since around the beginning of the release even without Heroes, and mostly playing on Leagues 1~3 and getting hundreds of SPS (if I am lucky in some days only), I made the improved version of my Soulkeep Tierlist.
Soulkeep
Soulkeep is a Tower Defense game that is currently running in Splinterlands website, and there are a ton of cards to play with. It is really fun to play, and with the recent change that brought back free cost for 1st tournament play, a lot of the players are returning, which makes competition more fierce. The randomized ruleset also favors players that are more dedicated in this game or players willing to spend money on this game.
Tierlist (Updated, for Leagues 1 to 3)
You can see the past Tierlist here:
https://peakd.com/hive-13323/@bluehy20/ranking-soulkeep-cards-for-leagues-1-to-3-spell-tierlist
This is the Tier that I ranked for each spells. I changed some tiers for certain cards, because of the slight change in meta and also with some more testing of spells. It is only my personal opinion, and some people may have different opinion about the spells.
Now, I will start with the S Tier. I will mainly talk about the cards that has more less usage, and cards with rank changes.
S Tier
(S -> S) Heartgiver: Good old Heartgiver! Really important along with Mana Mania currently because it affects points (Hearts give more points).
(S -> S) Mana Mania: Also impacts points (Earned mana gives more points). The meta seems to focus slowing down fiends to kill them in Mana Mania's radius, therefore getting more mana and more points. This impacted a lot of spells in the tierlist.
A+ Tier
(A+ -> A+) Cheapo: Cheapo is similar to Buildmaster, but personally I value Cheapo more because of better early start.
(A+ -> A+) Buildmaster: However, Buildmaster is also nice as it has 1 more charge than Cheapo. Also this can make the late game more easier by cheaper upgrades.
(A+ -> A+) Venus Flytrap: Still a must in most of rounds, especially the harder ones. Can save a couple hundreds of points!
(A -> A+) Kansas Twist: Although it was previously A, I moved it up 1 rank because the slow really makes difference in points with Mana Mania and Voodoo. Without that it is still a nice card because of the slowdown ability, which the towers doing that work is expensive and doesn't deal much damage.
A Tier
(A+ -> A) Gear Grease: Almost worthy of A+, but I see myself not using this card often, mainly because using this on Voodoo seems wasted, and using this on other towers makes Voodoo get less kills and less points.
(A -> A) Cracklesnap: Might get more down but I tend to use this again and again, mostly because this is easier to predict.
(A -> A) Slime Trooper: A nice troop that deals actually some damage to units. Only downside that it is too expensive, and some fiends actually slip past through if you place wrong.
B Tier
(This is where the unknown spells are starting...)
(C -> B) Backslider: In theory, this is a card that mixes Kansas Twist and Venus Flytrap, with similar effect of both. If it is placed after Mana Mania, it can get some more additional points. However that means that it is less efficient than both spells combined, while only taking 1 spell slot, so I gave it B.
(C -> B) Stickybomb: It can be a clutch when used correctly (heavy fiends come first and normal fiends follow back). This case, it can deal heavy damage. However, when the heavy fiends come last, this deals less damage, meaning that the low point is also very low.
(C -> B) Talentless: Designed specifically for Better Abilities Ruleset. It can actually clutch your game. However, you also need extra measures (Strong towers, additional towers) to kill the fiend, though.
(D -> B) Quick Flu: This can also do Talentless' work by placing this + strong tower at the spawning point. If the fiend with the ability comes in time, it will have very low health meaning it can be picked off easily.
C Tier
(Mostly meh cards in general)
(B -> C) Raining Cats: These Cats... It has 9 mana cost which is basically similar to Venus Flytrap's cost. Also, Venus Flytrap is better with less radius making it so that fiends can have maximum amount of hits before hitting Venus. Basically, it is Venus Flytrap with some limitations.
(B -> C) Stew of Doom: Only costs 5 mana, but it is basically nothing when you have a lot of mana and many fiends are coming, and because the Spell slot is more important, it is better to have more impactful spell here.
(B -> C) Damage Amplifier: It might be better if it is also applied to 1 tower, than having a zone where they will get extra damage. This can be used also with Mana mania, as they have the same radius, but most times there are not enough hits and also the difference cannot be easily recognized.
(B -> C) Shrimpify: A very interesting card but I don't really see any significant stat differences. I only see that it reduces size which is interesting, but similarly Stickybomb can also do this work.
D Tier / F Tier
(D Tier is Mostly Useless... F Tier is just cannot be played)
(B -> D) Higher Ground: The difference is a bit which can be noticed if you measure it (it doesn't show exactly though). Kind of downside is that it is 24 mana, which is kind of above average in terms of price, and the effect is not really that great.
(C -> D) Drunken Digger: Teleporting to a random location is just bad and there is kind of animation, meaning that during that time it does not attack. I guess it still deals dmg so it is D Tier.
(C -> D) Striking Critic: Unlike others, this spell's timer starts from the start, meaning that if this is a long round, it is not efficient to play this card.
(C -> D) Armor Piercer: Usually once the armored fiend enters the radius, they all just take hits outside of this card's radius, unless you set up slow. If you set up slow, it is just better to use Mana Mania/Voodoo there than Armor Piercer. Some units do not even have Armor...
(D -> F) Frog Boiler: It usually gets 1 big fiend (Spawners/Pixie/Greater Crow) down. You might just place another tower, with 80 mana, unless it is Better Ability.
(D -> F) Anvil of Awe: Still does nothing in leagues 1~2... (Haven't checked in L3)
(Unranked -> F) Soulful: Useless unless you are a grinder and you want to advance fast. Even then, you can buy Soul boxes I guess
Outro
And that was my ranking! I think that this ranking could change depending on leagues, and my personal opinion on them. After looking, I think that Cracklesnap could be swapped with Stew of Doom.
Thanks!
