I feel like macro photography with insects is like a never-ending quest to get closer, to get more detail, to get something more interesting. I like this type of a quest; I don't know if it will ever end, and that is a great thing. I find inspiration all around whenever I know these little creatures are near, and I can spend some time trying to capture them in all their glory. My preference is towards macro lenses that allow me to focus closer and bring out these details, so I typically either use extension tubes on a 50mm prime lens or a dedicated 60mm macro lens.
