A couple of things come to mind when reading this. One is that we are often encouraged to make a good first impression because it is said to be lasting. Yet my years to date have taught me that first impressions are rarely accurate. People can be much better than we first think or much worse.

The other thing this made me think of is how we seem to be encouraging shunning people unless they are perfect in our eyes or have the same beliefs as us; such is the state of social media. I made a joke about something my husband did when we had our second child and immediately someone responded that they hoped I left him for that. An extreme reaction, in my opinion, for one error.
