It had been a long time since I drew a character wearing a Kigurumi, and today’s protagonist will be Ocean Healer once again, but this time it will be a baby Ocean Healer. We will be using Photoshop for our drawing process. If you are ready for the process and for my drawing, let us begin.
Hola amigos, hola comunidad de Holozing, espero que estén teniendo un día y un mes de diciembre genial. Hoy regreso dibujando para no perder la costumbre de crear arte con este maravilloso universo. Hacía mucho rato que no dibujaba algún personaje usando un Kigurumi, y el protagonista del día de hoy será Ocean Healer nuevamente, pero este será un Ocean Healer bebé. Estaremos usando Photoshop para nuestro proceso de dibujo. Si están listos para el proceso y para mi dibujo, comenzamos.
This is how my final drawing turned out, but it started with a very simple and scattered sketch. I drew elements from the simple base of a circle and kept adding details. Honestly I did not have much faith in it at the beginning, but by adding details I ended up loving the final result.
Así quedó mi dibujo final, pero empezó con un boceto muy simple y regado. Dibujé elementos desde la base simple de un círculo y fui agregando detalles. La verdad no le tenía mucha fe al principio, pero agregando detalles me encantó el resultado final.
After I had my entire sketch ready, with all the details, the hood of the Kigurumi and the features of my character, I began to do the line art. But… I have not explained what a Kigurumi is. A Kigurumi is a full-body costume that represents an animal or a character. These costumes, originally from Japan, have become popular all over the world for their comfort and their adorable appearance. Kigurumis are used both for parties and for staying at home, and they are especially popular among young people and lovers of kawaii culture. And if you have not noticed, it is a Zingu Kigurumi, yes, our beautiful little ice penguin.
Después que tuve todo mi boceto listo, con todos los detalles, la capucha del Kigurumi y los detalles de mi personaje, comencé a hacer el line art. Pero… no he explicado lo que es un Kigurumi. Un Kigurumi es un disfraz de cuerpo entero que representa a un animal o personaje. Estos disfraces, originarios de Japón, se han vuelto populares en todo el mundo por su comodidad y su aspecto adorable. Los kigurumis se utilizan tanto para fiestas como para estar en casa, y son especialmente populares entre los jóvenes y los amantes de la cultura kawaii. Y si no se han dado cuenta es un Kigurumi de Zingu, sí, nuestro bello pingüinito de hielo.
For the line art I used a brush of approximately 0.9 pixels with pressure variation to add areas of greater linear thickness, creating values that can give a sense of light and shadow.
Para el line art utilicé un pincel de aproximadamente 0.9 píxeles con variación de presión para agregar zonas de mayor grosor lineal, creando valores que pueden dar sensación de luces y sombras.
After having my line art ready I simply deactivate the sketch layer and I am ready to apply the colors. I will be using the official art as a reference to guide me with the colors. The most important detail that will identify our character as Ocean Healer will be his lock of hair more blue than the rest of his hair. I love his wide smiling face with eyes closed from laughing so much.
Después de tener listo mi line art simplemente desactivo la capa del boceto y ya estoy listo para aplicar los colores. Estaré usando de referencia el arte oficial para guiarme por los colores. Lo más importante y que identificará a nuestro personaje como Ocean Healer será su mechón de cabello más azul que el resto de su pelo. Me encanta su cara de sonrisa amplia con ojos cerrados de tanto reír.
Well after placing the base colors in my drawing, which I will do separately by layers, I will use different layer blending modes such as multiply and overlay to create lights and shadows. I will also use the airbrush to soften some volumes and to make details like the color of the rosy cheeks.
Bueno después de colocar los colores bases en mi dibujo, lo cual haré de forma separada por capas, utilizaré distintos modos de fusión de capa como multiplicar y sobreexponer para crear luces y sombras. También utilizaré el aerógrafo para suavizar algunos volúmenes y hacer los detalles como el color de las mejillas sonrosadas.
