Caterpillar of the nygmia plana moth

in Nature Observer14 days ago

Hello friends #natureobserver good afternoon....

I'm back here and today I have a tiny caterpillar crawling on green leaves. It is a larval caterpillar of the Nygmia plana moth. Although the caterpillar is small, it can be a threat to our skin. If it touches it, our skin will feel itchy. It doesn't have to be touched by its body, the leaves where it stops will also make our skin itchy. Small but the effect is extraordinary.

This caterpillar does have a beautiful and interesting appearance to observe, its entire body is protected by thick, white fur. This caterpillar has a beautiful, long and cylindrical body posture, black in color decorated with brownish orange. But don't be fooled by its appearance, because the effects will be fatal.

For its habitat, this caterpillar is more often found in areas with many host plants. The leaves of the host plant are their staple food, before the caterpillar metamorphoses into a beautiful moth. That's all for today, see you in the next post.

Amazing how photography helps to give us better view of some of these insects that we normally don't see their beauty in detail just with ordinary eyes.

Yes, that's right. With photography, especially macro, we can all enjoy the little things that are often overlooked. Thank you for visiting.

I always feel somehow looking at caterpillars,, I get this chilly feeling even when looking at your pictures. Seems it's makes one's skin itchy that's why I don't like it

Yes, that's right. The first time I saw a caterpillar, I felt the same way as you. But now I'm used to them. Thank you for visiting.
