Trametes elegans is a species of fungus which is included in the polyporaceae family, this fungus is known by the general name elegant polypore because of its attractive appearance, in the scientific classification tramates elegans is under the fungi kingdom, while the basidiomycota division of the agaricomycetes class and the polypores order, this fungus is often included in found in tropical and subtropical forests, especially in areas that often rain with cool and humid weather conditions, I feel very lucky because I was able to find them when I was doing garden work, even though this fungus was covered in moss fresh because of the cold weather, but the beauty of the mushrooms is still clearly visible.

Morphologically, Trametes elegans has a mushroom leaf shape in the form of a hymenophore (spore surface) which is flat and curved, at first glance this mushroom looks like the lingzhi mushroom which is very famous in tropical forests and traditional Chinese medicine, but you should not be fooled by the physical appearance of this mushroom because it is a fungus. Lingzhi vs Trametes elegant are two different species of mushroom, one of the things that makes this mushroom different from similar mushroom species is the color of the stem and cap of the mushroom, this mushroom has several familiar colors ranging from white to brown with attractive patterns.

Another interesting thing that can be found from the Trametes elegans species is their ability to degrade lignin and cellulose in wood, because this advantage makes Trametes elegans one of the most important species in the forest ecosystem, with this ability Trametes elegans acts as a saprophyte that helps In the process of decomposition of organic material, in this process the Trametes elegans fungus produces enzymes that can break down complex compounds in wood and then convert them into simpler compounds that can be used by other organisms in the ecosystem.
