Collybiopsis affixa | 17 12 2024 | North Acèh Regency, Acèh, Indonesia |
This fungus is Collybiopsis affixa, a type of fungus that grows attached to rotting wood. Its uniqueness lies in the way it grows as if it is one with the substrate, like a natural staircase created by nature. The hood is small, slightly curved, of a soft yellowish-white color. Up close, the edges appear wavy, resembling developing flower petals.
I immediately captured this moment with the camera. From various angles, I tried to capture its hidden beauty. In natural light, the mushroom appears smooth and almost transparent, but when exposed to additional light, its texture becomes clearer, revealing extraordinary detail. I adjusted the lighting to highlight the fine mycelium spreading across the surface of the wood, like threads of life trying to survive.
What amazed me even more was how this fungus survived in such a harsh environment. In the midst of rotten logs that have begun to decompose, Collybiopsis affixa remains strong, as if it has the determination to continue living. This small miracle reminds me that even in seemingly insignificant places, there is always life waiting to be discovered.
