in Nature Observer3 days ago

Hello, friends.

Meet the Blue Chameleon (Anolis allisoni).
This lizard, a member of the anole family, is native to the Caribbean.

This photo was taken in my backyard in Cuba. They are abundant in the eastern part of the country, where they are known as chipojo or caguayo.

This specimen is a male. It is known for its red scarf and blue head. The female is green, without a scarf or blue head. This leads to its confusion with the Anolis porcatus.

Hola, amigos.

A beautiful lizard.

And to think I used to be afraid of those little creatures until I found out they were harmless and great biological controllers... Then I dated a photographer who was fascinated by them and had a whole collection of photos of them and other species, and that's when I fell even more in love with them. 🫣🤭

¡Felicidades!
