Congrats on the property and getting everything started!

Thanks man! I very nearly went down the van life road partly because of some of your posts, but it wouldn't have worked with a 7 year old lol.

Nah, couldn't have done it with kids. That would have been a major challenge. I am homesteaded now back on my family's property helping the folks out and basically taking the reigns of things, at least for my dad's portion. He has Parkinson's and stage 4 cancer so had to change some things up. It's all for the best though because things were honestly starting to get a bit rough out there, lol.

Yeah its super tough everywhere at the moment, there was no way I could have afforded a regular house pretty much anywhere with only one mediocre income and my daughter. I wasn't about to rent again and be stuck on that treadmill for life either!

I was able to move home while I got this all started and helped them out as much as I could through their health issues and preparing to sell their place and retire. Mom was in and out of the hospital this last year with a series of aneurysms and finally had coils put in to prevent them from rupturing. They're still trying to figure out what exactly is causing them but they moved away when I moved in here.

Sorry to hear your folks are going through so much man, it sounds like your dad is tough as nails though dealing with all that and you get to be there to help them battle through it.

Yeah, man, it's rough out there for most of us these days in one form or the other. Dad is like a ferrel cat with 18 lives, lol. He's actually doing pretty decent right now, took me and my sister doing a bit of research and getting his meds balanced, knocking him off of 3 that were counteracting. That honestly saved his life. Fuck doctors, lol.

Yeah man, I can't wait to see what you get going on your property! Mine has been a learning experience for sure, lol. Even today, had a new rooster get out and is now gotten himself all set up under this old semi trailer that my uncle uses for storage, lol. My hens beat the crap out of him, lol. He escaped and spent last night in a tree until I forced him out and he ran under the trailer, lol.

Chasing chickens is half the fun! I don't have any animals just yet since we just moved in, and I have more to do to finish things up. First things first right?

Gotta start somewhere. And when you do start, it’s a never ending adventure, 🤣
