I've always had a thing for crochet headwear and I think k the one I've made most for myself is cat ear beanie. It's cozy and cute and I don't really have pink clothes so this one was something I was excited about.
It wasn't a Pinterest idea. I just got up and made it and here we are.
In all my projects if you've been here you would notice that I mostly use acrylic yarn to make them and I recently realised that most people don't actually use them for outfits. But acrylic yarn doesn't fade when constantly exposed to sun so most of the time I'm making outfits for my mannequin and I know it will be out in the sun.
I use acrylic so the color stays the same and doesn't fade off over time but cotton does and it can be a bummer sometimes.
As much as I enjoy using acrylic I also love to experiment with other yarn types and when I saw my vendor put up this yarn my eyes were all big and googly if that's a word. It arrived when the weather was a bit cold so the best option was tk make something that'll cover my ears and head since its more prone to cold.
I used this 8 ply yarn with 6.0mm hook and the thing with the yarn is that the strings unwind and I found it funny since the yarns I use you'll have to unwind them yourself so you know how many ply it is. It took only a few hours to get this done and to be honest there were no challenges. I stuck to soluble crochet since it was a simple design and the yarn art did justice to it.
Why did I pick a cat ear beanie? There's No long talk about it, it's just cute and I feel it gives the design a structure of its own.
My beanie turned out very pretty, I was already taking pictures when the length had not reached perfection. It just felt so pretty I dunno how to describe it. And it fits so well on my head with or without braids it felt strange that I was so inlove with pink but yeah I am in love.
Would I make this in many colors in the future? Absolutely this was so fun and easy to make. The only reason there aren't more right now is the clients orders that I am currently working on.
Are there any tweaks I'd make? I would try attaching actual ears. I've been seeing the design on Pinterest and I would love to try it out sometime soon.
Would you try out this design? If yes I'd love to see what you come up with for your own design.
