My First Crochet Granny Square Trouser

Hi, everyone. Trust you had a wonderful day.

Few days ago I made a post about a ragged shrug that I made and I may have sort of left out the fact that the fit was for fashion week so I'm here to fill you in as well as tell you about the making process of this trouser.

Let's start from the top shall we?

Uyo fashion week happens in my state once a year. I made an appearance last year and I was planning for this year since April (the event is usually in may) but the date changed and it happened in September this time.

I had to plan and sketch my outfits and also maybe a few collaborations. The whole plan was to use the attention the event was getting and pull some of it to my brand.

This is the outfit I had on for day 1 - I wanted street wear. I did get inspiration fir this trouser on the internet though buh I made a few tweaks to it. Lol not really a copy n paste person.

Except it's a clients order but when I make fits for myself I either sketch it or make a few tweaks to the original so it doesn't look like it at all.

I got to making the squares and I don't think I had a hook size in mind.

But I wanted it to be very spacious more like a beach wear sort of. Took three days to make this trouser though.

And no I wasn't working for 72 hours straight. I took a whole lot of breaks in between because I got bored easily which is ironic because crocheters work for long hours.

Anyways I finished the first half of the squares in one night and put the pieces together the next morning. I made a black short with the 7.0mm.

The squares were for each side and the short was to connect the two sides of the squares.

Best on the list was making the second set of 6 10 inch squares for the second side. Which I did in one day and also patched it together and we got to my favorite part more like the funny part.

When we finished the base of the trouser the next was to add yarns to it so it'll Dangle. we actually spent hours doing that in the evening before looking up the shop (I got some help from my assistant) and the next morning the look wasn't sitting well with me so we spent another set of hours taking out the yarn that was dangling.

I did dread it but it would be a drag to show up in an outfit I wasn't comfortable with.

IMG-20240920-WA0144.jpg

When that was done we left only the yarns sticking out from the finished project because it looked more original and u still wanted a bit of the razz look. I hope I got that right.

Fast forward to fashion week day 1 and it was absolutely amazing. Meeting other people in fashion. And seeing pieces on the runway. Was one of the most fun things I've done this year.
