Today's episode is a story time of so bear with me. And tge most exciting part of this is …drumroll rolls please… It was made as a gift. Let's get into it lemme give you the details of how, when, where and why I made this particular piece 😁

Late last year I was randomly checking up on my uncle and he mentioned that he had travelled and that the weather was messing with him since it was snowing over there. I took the time to tell him I make crochet wears.

I said that he could get something made since there are crochet wears that are very good for colds and it will help him cope better. You prolly know this but I'm African. It's regular here, regular for us at least so very cold temperatures are not something we are used to.

Anyways we had this conversation and he said he'd try it before his next trip. I went yarn shopping a while ago and I got an 8ply cotton yarn and it was a neutral color as well. And it just Dawned on me that ‘wait o, how about I make something for him so he can test run. If it keeps him warm he'd definitely want to get some to help him stay comfy”

I grabbed my 7mm hook and got to work. Remember that's half double crochet ribbed pattern I did with that black beanie. I used it here. I was curious to see how it'll look on an 8ply yarn and it's so cuteeeeeeeee. Gave me exactly what I wanted.

I finished this in a day. Dis some other tasks though so I didn't spend the whole day working on it. When it was finished I sent him a message. Was like oh the last time you travelled I remembered you talked about being cold. I made this for you so it would help you stay cosy on your next trip.

It was the first time in a long time I heard excitement in his voice. He is a nice person but you know that different excited tone. He said I should come by the office the next day so he could get it. When I got there he saw it and while he was unwrapping it he told his friends that I'm a crocheter and all that this is what I make. I was there smiling. He wore it, pulled it and it covered his ears and he looked excited.

Told his assistant to put it in the car and then I got gifted lol. Was like an uno reverse. Went to get gifted and then I got gifted too. It was nice. To see that I made him happy with a little gift. It felt really good.

Hello dear, this is such a beautiful Bernie. I was drawn to the pattern used and cracked my head a little to guess which of the stitches. It became quite visible when I brightened my phone screen and screamed HDC 😂😃... I'm getting good at this crochet thing and it's exciting. Amazing how the size of a yarn and a hook can make the difference. However, I did have a bit of confusion, from your procedure you said 7mm hook but in your material you said 4mm. Looking at the picture that hook size does look like a 7mm kindly confirm 🙂

Oh my. Uts a typical error. I used 7mm hook. I'm so happy fir you rn. Can't wait to see

☺️🤓

Nice hat for your uncle, you are very good with crochet, I congratulate you.

Thank youuuuuu. I'm happy you like it
