Happy new month everyone! I’m so excited today. So I’ve been trying so hard to make a hive themed coaster for a while now and anytime I try I just find it hard because it’s crochet tapestry. I was so inspired today when @phoenixwren finished her forever blanket and she said to never give up in her post.
It somehow “gingered” me to do this hive coaster today and I was even more surprised to have used 2 hours on this. I even made so many mistakes but I didn’t give up and I’m so proud of myself.
The materials I used were:
• 50g balls of yarn.
• 1.60mm hook
Procedure
I started by using an online tapestry graph to draw the hive symbol.
Honestly I skipped about 5 rows so that my coaster will be cute. I used stitch fiddle to draw my graph.
So I’m going to just show you what I did and to be honest crochet tapestry is not so easy. I started by making 30 chains and then made a row of half double crochet. I then started making the hive symbol by follow the pattern on the graph. In following the pattern, I was counting the stitches. So even though I didn’t completely use the graph I was still counting to make the symbol.
At the middle part, where the symbol slants, I started crocheting in a slight slanting way so that it fits into the symbol. I used half double crochet throughout.
After I was done with the symbol, I made a floral design around the coaster. I made the floral design by making 5 double crochets in one stitch, slip stitched in the next two stitches and then skipped two stitches and then repeated this till I was done with the floral design around the coaster.
I was now done with the coaster.
It wasn’t so easy to make this because I wasn’t mentally prepared for this but I enjoyed making this and I can’t wait to see what I make going forward.
