Hello everyone, so my friend has been under the weather for about two days and I just decided to make her something so she recovers faster. I have known her over a month now or even more and I must say she’s one of the nicest people I’ve met on hive so far. She’s one of those friends that always has your back no matter what. I just woke up today feeling a bit sad that she was not well so I decided to make her a stylish tote bag.
I literally spent my whole day on this and I made sure to make it perfect for her. I chose this bag because it’s stylish and I know she loves stylish stuff.
The materials I used:
• 50g of yarns
• 1.60 mm hook
Procedure
I used granny squares for this. The whole of the bag is made of 3 giant granny squares and rows of half double crochet.I started by making the three giant squares. Honestly I underestimated the squares. I thought since they were simple, they wouldn’t take much time. You would be shocked to know when I timed myself, I used more than an hour on a square. I’m still surprised.
I made four chains and the slip stitched in the first stitch. I then crocheted 4 sets of three double crochets in the middle space and then in between the the 4 sets of double crochets were two chains.
I continued building the squares and the only things you need to know about granny squares or should I say the trick to making granny squares is that, you see how squares have like L shapes at four corners? It’s the same with this. You’re building L shapes.
So for me, I put two sets of three double crochets at the four corners and then that gave it the L shape at the for corners. And In between the corners, I made three sets of double crochets.
After making the three giant squares, I positioned them like how I want them to and sewed them together with my hook using a slip stitch.
After seeing them, I went ahead to made the hand of the bag. I made about 50 rows of back loop half double crochet. If you don’t know back loop, it’s basically putting your stitch at the back instead of the front like the normal way. I started crocheting the hand from one end and then ended at the other side.
There, I attached it and I was done.
As I said, I literally spent the whole day on this. I’ll never underestimate these squares again. But on the bright side, it felt good doing this, knowing who I was giving it to. @hopestylist, I hope this makes you feel better.
I like the bag and I hope you like it too. Thank you for your time.
