In life, you gain something and lose something

in Reflections10 months ago

As the years of our lives go by, we gain something we don't like and we lose something we love...

So for years I have been struggling with excess uric acid in my blood.
My kidneys do not excrete purine properly, and then I have to be treated with therapies, in order to reduce the accumulation of crystals in my joints.

Even in addition to the therapy I take, during the holiday periods (such as now, Christmas and New Year's) when there is meat, strong, fatty, spicy, salty food on the table, and when my diet and adherence to the usual way of eating is on hold, it obviously comes to an increase in the level of uric acid in the blood and a higher concentration of crystals.
And then to the acute onset of gout.

And then what happens?
Instead of sleeping during the night, because of the pain in my thumb, I can't close my eyes all night.
And in the morning, instead of going to work, I make an appointment with the doctor and wait for my turn to be examined in the waiting room...

And as an epilogue... I was prescribed a bunch of meds...

I was given meds I don't like (and don't want) to take instead of what I like...
Wine, I can't.
Beer, only sometimes.
Red meat, no way.
Salty, fatty, not at all...

Shit...

They say that when you give a thumbs up, you give the meaning: Everything is OK (0 Killed), Everything is fine...

However, when I look at the picture of my right thumb (in black and white like this, so as not to be afraid of redness from swelling), I know that it is not good.

I know what's coming...
What I love - good food and alcohol, I'll have to reduce it a bit (hopefully only for a while)...
Go on a diet and get back to normal with therapy.

Until it's time that thumbs up really means:
Everything is OK.

I agree to take care of my diet because I still prefer a healthy life without delicious food and drinks, than having health problems like I have now with the drinks and food I love.

I hope to recover soon and have a healthy year ahead, which is what I wish for you and your loved ones.

Huh... When taking a diet isn't a personal move, but a MUST, it sucks... :( As I'm getting older my "food list" is getting shorter and shorter, and the price is always paid with exactly things that we like...

Get well soon!

thanks 🙂
I sincerely hope that after some time, when I improve my results with my diet, I will be able to consume what I like in small quantities.

Muy cierto, me encantó tu texto 🤩💯

True but sad... I have to put the wine out of use for a while 😕
