Always an interesting detail you pick up anew when reading about history. The crew numbered 908 and passengers 1316. I guess that was the way luxury worked back then... lots of crew attending to first class passengers no doubt. Plus ships didn't run themselves the way they do now. It was alot of work.

I had not given any thought to how close the number of crew compared to passengers was. With the lavish meals that were prepared and served, and housekeeping, not to mention all the crew that it took to run the mechanics of the ship, it was a huge effort by many!
