The development of technology can always provide interesting surprises.
A while ago, a friend shared a link with me to a presentation of a new motorcycle from the Japanese company Yamaha, which I found interesting and wanted to share. It was the electric motorcycle «Motoroid 2». As such, this motorcycle isn't a new development, but it's still fascinating.
The Motoroid 2 concept motorcycle was presented in late 2023 during the Japan Mobility Show 2023. Since October of that year, specialized publications had mentioned this particular #motorcycle and revealed its features.
This Japanese motorcycle is something like a #robot in the shape of a motorcycle, and this is evident from the choice of name to the curious fact that its chassis is articulated to maintain its center of gravity.
I think the quality that caught my attention the most was the level of #AI implementation that allowed the motorcycle to recognize obstacles, identify its owner's face, execute movements on its own, and become a very interesting companion.

The video explains many of its functions, including the fact that it was programmed to be a dance partner for its human… Yes, this motorcycle can dance with you, also playing music, displaying lights to the rhythm of the music, and moving with you.
I found this very striking. On the one hand, I understood that this electric motorcycle is not intended for mass production. And I read that this motorcycle has not been put on the market either.
And the parts of the #video where they show how the motorcycle's chassis twists (like a screw) to maintain its center of gravity, while carrying its rider on top without the human having to do anything to steer it, I found very striking.
I think Yamaha wanted to do with this bike what Tesla has done with the cars it makes. But we'll have to wait and see if they decide to create a model that will actually be sold to the general market in the near future.

Hace un tiempo, un amigo me compartió un enlace de una presentación de una nueva motocicleta de la empresa japonesa Yamaha, que yo encontré interesante y quería compartirlo. Se trataba de la motocicleta eléctrica Motoroid 2, como tal, esta motocicleta no es una novedad, pero sigue estando interesante.
La motocicleta conceptual Motoroid 2 fue presentada en los meses finales de 2023 durante Japan Mobility Show 2023. Ya desde octubre de ese año, había publicaciones especializadas que mencionaban esta particular motocicleta, y daban a conocer sus características.
Esta motocicleta japonesa es algo así como un robot con forma de moto, y eso se nota desde la elección del nombre, hasta el hecho curioso de que su chasis está articulado para poder mantener el centro de gravedad por sí misma.
Creo que la cualidad que más me llamó la atención fue el nivel de implementación de #IA para que la motocicleta reconociera obstáculos, identificara el rostro de su propietario, ejecutara movimientos por sí misma, y se convierta en un compañero muy interesante.

En el vídeo se explica buena parte de sus funciones, incluyendo el hecho de que fue programada para ser una pareja de baile para su humano… sí, esa moto puede acompañarte a bailar, colocando también música, desplegando luces al ritmo de la música, y moviéndose contigo.
Yo encontré esto muy llamativo, por una parte, entendí que esta moto eléctrica no está pensada para producción masiva. Y leí que esta motocicleta no se ha puesto en venta en el mercado tampoco.
Y las partes del vídeo en que muestran como el chasis de la #motocicleta se retuerce (como un tornillo) para mantener el centro de gravedad, mientras lleva a su piloto encima sin que el humano tenga que hacer nada para dirigirle, yo las encontré muy llamativas.
Creo que Yamaha quiso hacer con esta moto lo que Tesla ha hecho con los autos que fabrica. Pero tocará esperar a ver si en algún futuro cercano se deciden a crear un modelo que sí llegue a estar en venta para el mercado general.
