Micropost: Carnaval end + Fin de Carnaval [Eng+Spa] 2025-03-04

Carnival Tuesday, and the costume parties are already over on this side of the world. I have read that, in cases like Brazil, this celebration lasts almost a whole month. Considering the tourist value that the celebration has in Brazil, that is understandable. I have spent it at home, watching some news and doing some light work that came to me by mail. You could say that it was a nice day, and I actually felt that it flew by.

I wanted to make a more substantial post than in recent days, but I got stuck in a review of an old Database that they asked me to do. I am lucky that I had not lost that database, it turns out that someone needed a copy of that file and was willing to pay for it.

I have been several years since I left teaching and research. And it is lucky that, despite having lost many files, due to an accident with a Hard Drive, I still have backups in different cloud hosting services. It's not often that I need these things, but I'm glad to have them on hand when I need them.

Well, tomorrow is another day, and it happens to be an important day in the Catholic liturgical calendar, but tomorrow I'll go into that subject. And I really hope nothing happens that changes my plans too much.

And I'm not complaining about today's unexpected event. After all, it means I have an extra income that helps me balance the accounts for the month. If it's this kind of unexpected event and surprise, then one can't really complain about its untimely appearance.

Martes de carnaval, y ya terminan las fiestas de disfraces de este lado del mundo. He leído que, en casos como Brasil, esta celebración dura casi todo un mes. Considerando el valor turístico que tiene la celebración en Brasil, eso es comprensible. Yo lo he pasado en casa, viendo algunas noticias y tomando algún trabajo ligero que me llegó por correo. Se puede decir que fue un día agradable, y en realidad sentí que pasó volando.

Quería hacer un post más sustancioso que en días recuentes, pero me he quedado pegado en un trabajo de revisión de una vieja Base de Datos que me pidieron. Tengo la suerte de que no había perdido esa base de datos, resulta que alguien necesitaba una copia de ese archivo y estaba dispuesto a pagar por ella.

Tengo varios años desde que dejé la docencia e investigación. Y es una suerte que, a pesar de haber perdido muchos archivos, por un accidente con un Disco Duro, aún tengo respaldos en diferentes servicios de alojamiento en Nube. No es frecuente que me hagan falta estas cosas, pero me alegro de tenerlas a mano cuando las necesito.

En fin, ya mañana será otro día, y resulta que es un día importante en el calendario litúrgico católico, pero ya será mañana que ahonde en ese tema. Y espero en verdad que no ocurra nada que me cambie demasiado los planes.

Y no es que me queje del imprevisto de hoy. Después de todo, significa que tengo un ingreso extra que me ayuda a equilibrar las cuentas del mes. Si son esta clase de imprevistos y sorpresas, entonces uno no puede realmente quejarse de su aparición intempestiva.
