I am not a fan of "choosing user randomly". It doesn't do the justice for the efforts. The "50th" may win 4 HIVE while "1st" may not! But, the "1st" put more efforts to be at that position!

Anyway, to prevent users from playing with the ranking system, it's a good option too!

        It takes effort to be in the top 50 and I hope as more Ecencians realize they could win prizes more people will put in the effort to reach the top 50! It's all about being engaged and making thoughtful comments. It shouldn't be a race to see who can make the most.
