The first pitcher of one of my Monkey Jars isnstarting to grow 😍
I think it's such a cool plant. Especially when it has a couple of full grown pitchers.

looks cool, I really like it. Does it take a lot of watering?

It is a tropical plant, so it loves humidity and warmth.
I make sure it has enough water and I spray it every couple of days.
Here is an image from one of the pithchers from last year.

niiice!! I used to have one. Soon you'll have pitchers all around it.

I hope so. There are a lot of really tiny pitchers already, but my experience is that they don't always grow into big ones.
Last year they had 2 or 3. Maybe this year some more.

ahhh no way, I recognise it now. Does it catch flys in the pitchers and digest them?

Yes way! The rim produces nectar which attracts insects. The rim and inside of the pitcher is slippery, so they fall in and get digested.
Never seen it happening, but I have seen 'stuff' in the pitchers last year. So that might be half digested insects.

I remember reading about them in school, always thought they're cool. Can they survive without insects?

I actually don't know. They get nutrients from the insects. I've never actively fed them, but the liquid in the pitchers last year wasn't clear, so it looked like it had caught some small flies by itself.

well, all the best with it. I look forward to an update and seeing it grow

Interesting, I've never heard of it, so will read up on it a bit. 😃
