Greetings my wonderful fellow of @Ladiesofhive. It's me, Iris, sending you love from Indonesia. Since the beginning of the week, I was already excited about the new contest topic from @jane1289. Because there's one business that I already envisioned since I was in Junior High School. Also, since the second question is quite related, I'll try to answer both of them in my entry!
🟦1 If given a chance, what type of business would you like to put up, and why?
If by miracle I got a load of money, I will build this homestay. It will be located in highland with a mountain range in a close view. The two stories building will be build in a kind of hill top and will be called The 7 Daffodils Inn. The name was inspired by an old song by The Brother Four - Circa 1957. I heard this long time ago and was mesmerized by the humble lyrics. And it would be the whole theme of the inn, a cozy place to retreat and love yourself. To take a break and find more about yourself.
I will plant Holland rose garden on the front yard because here, we could sell that really well. There will be some patios and seating to enjoy the scenery and also a natural Koi pond with cascading waterfall. I will also plant some vegetables on the front because it's good to be self-sustained right? My guess can also enjoy fresh cultivated veggies everyday.
And this will be one of the room. It is rustic and simple but comfortable and inviting with plump pillows, thic carpet and warm blanket. It will have a basic necessities and internet of course, but I want to keep the design in harmony with slow living vibes.
There will be a big windows so the room is rich with natural light and a balcony for the rooms upstair. I don't really need too many rooms, because it will be an intimate inn. I always enjoy staying on a big roomy bedroom if I have to stay in the hotel, so the room will be spacious but complimented with modern bathroom.
And the dining room will be the most important part of the inn, because here where people will have breakfast or brunch or enjoy some nice tea time and snack. The guess can choose to dine on the table or lounging on the sofa corner near the windowsill. The idea is to dine together because I want the inn to feel like home.
The pantry will be full of snack and light food where the guess can help themselves, complimentary from the inn. Also there will be a coffee maker and some tea to make anytime.
I will also build a nice cafè on the backyard with cozy seating and light delicacies such as pastry and dessert. The cafè is open to public, so you can enjoy my cafe without staying over. Again, there will be rows of herbs, edible flowers, and veggies like tomatoes, zucchini, and eggplants. I always dream to have my own food garden, so why not put that here as well. When sunset came, rows of warm garland light will brighten the garden.
I guess I dreamed about this business because I always long for a place to step away from my daily routine and if I can provide that for my friend and families, that would be great too. It is like a refugee when they can find me to chat or to rest or just to relax for a while. I often visit this place in my mind, to tweak about the detail and imagining the interior. Sometimes I collect recipes that would suitable for the house menu as well.
Can I make the money from my dreamy inn? Well that would lead us to the second question...
🟦2 Do you see yourself as more motivated by passion, profit, or independence?
Well, from I got my first job until now, the motive behind it is still the same: to survive and earn a living. I am not that fortunate that I can cherry pick a job which in line with my passion. If I have the privilege to choose, I prefer a humble life in a village where I can grow my own food and spend my time reading. Perhaps I would like to teach some kids or running errands for the elderly. However my parents work so hard so I can have the best education and I feel guilty if I didn't make enough money to support them and have a steady life.
So in reality I think that it was so rare that we can earn enough profit, or even be financially independence while doing what we are passionate about it. And when you turn your passion into main job, it can burn you out and lost the spark that once lit up your heart due to challenge, stress and people. So for now, I am simply motivated by profit that would support me and my family, while also trying things that can make me independent as an entrepreneur. And someday if life is kind and I got lucky, I will be able to build my 7 Daffodils without having to worry about profit. Just a safe and peaceful space for the one who need it.
Thank you for reading my entry and let's keep nourishing our dreams, Ladies 😘. See you around and good luck!
