Greetings fellow wonderful @ladiesofhive and Hive world! It's me Iris and I hope this writing finds you well. I was so intrigued when I read this week theme. As usual, LOH contest always made me think and reflect about my life journey, so shout out to @priyanarc for the very interesting topics. Today, I want to answer the first question:
|If your life had a title like a Netflix series, what would it be?|
Well if I had a chance to make my life into a movie, I want to tell about my high school life. It will be a coming-of-age movie like High School Musical or Mean Girls (well, you can guess my age by my reference lol) but without singing and dancing of course. Well I always like the OG coming-of-age movies because for me it's the time when everything was so simple yet so complicated at the same time. So here is the phase which perhaps shaped my characters and steered my way the most.
Firstly, I have to introduce you to @arveno, the school troublemaker with MC energy and look (oh yeah, he accumulated quite number of fangirls back then). He was the one on the cover beside me. My bestfriend and accomplice in so many trouble that I got in our high school year. I also had a mandatory crush on him when we were on junior high about a week maybe so it didn't count. But we became close on the 2nd year and that's when everything start.
We were both so idealistic as teenagers did. I always thought that he would be a basketball player since he was so good and passionate about it and secretly I dreamed to be a writer. He always dream big, like made a lot of money that achieved that financial freedom. I only wanted to leave our hometown since I want to break free from my conservative family. We both were so cheerful at school yet when the bells rang, and we often met for a small talk and then we both find out that each of us had doubt, sadness, and uncertainty from our home situation. A shared bagage that made us closer.
We also had a pretty tight group with different personality, dreams, and passion and always hung out on the break time or sometimes when time permit on the weekend as well. The story will tell about our innocent love story, how we got our heart broken badly, like when my crush turned out was in relationship with my best friend, and his love adventure in finding the true love. The confusion of picking our major in college and the frantic and desperate attemp to study for graduation exam and college pass.
At the end, he didn't become a basketball player and I didn't write at all once we both thrown into a corporate life. Life was far from our ideals. But we moved to work in the same city and the story continues about finding our dream and building our fragile future in the unfamiliar city full of stranger. We got our adult problems and luckily have each other to share the stories.
I was so surprised when he became a writer here at Hive and he was also the one who got me wrote again here, which I was so grateful. We both have our own family and this is the proof that man and woman can be a bestfriend after all. We didn't always in contact through out that years but we both know that when we need each other, we just one call away. And if I could, I want to tell our friendship in beautiful and funny scenes but in a real way.
The main reason why I choose my high school years as a part of my life is because I feel like a lot of coming of age movies or series are too focusing on love story or bad things or being mean. Actually, I felt like the teenager life doesn't really that bad and shallow. Yes, of course we got crushes and love relationship, but we also focusing om friendship. Most likely we dealt with study and family matter and the emotional turmoil of teenagers with their innocence and idealism. And I want to capture that esence in a motion picture that gave encouragement and hope.
All those trivial things that gave us heartache are needed for us to grow. And that friends you got a long the way influence your life greater that we imagine, so we need to choose our circle wisely. The youth is meant to be confusing, chaotic, fun, and touching. And I was so grateful that I experienced that simple yet colorful life in my teenager days. And those friend that we made during high school days, still become an integral part in our life that are precious and unreplaceable.
So that was a penny from our thought about this week topic. Big thanks to all supprter and donatur for this week contest. Can't wait to read other's entries as well. Good luck ladies and see you around!
