Before Now! #LOH 246

Belief in omens exist all around the world. While some are common across cultures such as black cats or shooting stars, others feel more personal. Have you experienced something that felt like a sign?

Believe me when I tell you, we Africans, taking it back home Nigerians are really very superstitious, we take almost anything and everything very seriously, we believe it to be for good or for bad, either way, we don't take it lightly.

One common sign is the itching of the palm(hand) in my culture, it is believed that when you scratch your palm that is itching you, it's a sign that you are about to have money. Yes I believe it too, most times when my palm starts to itch me, I will be so happy followed by the saying, " this one that my palm is itching me like this, i hope someone is about to credit my account".

It might sound funny, but most times, at the end of the month, when am about to receive my monthly salary, that is when my palm will start to itch, atleast I have taken note of this sign.

Another sign is hitting your toes on the ground while walking, we believe it is a sign of bad omen if you hit the ground with left leg, and it's a sign of goodnews if you hit the ground with your right leg.

Across the Nigerian culture, alot of persons believe that when you are sleeping and start eating food given to you in your dream, it's a sign that you are being initiated or feed by the enemies.

Yes I have experienced alot of these signs, growing up I usually feel so scared after such dreams but today it's abit different because I know how to cast and mind if you know what I mean.

And these are what our four fathers believed before us, making us to be conscious even in today's world about the power that the spiritual holds.

Few weeks back, an owl has been sitting on a tree inside our compound, it got us all scared, one of my neighbors even went outside in the middle of the night when the owl was screaming to sprinkle anointing water.

Now what was in our mind, has these bird been sent by the evil ones, it made us to be more spiritually alert, why because we know the spiritual meaning of the birds. Mind you, my neighbors and I are entirely from different ethnic groups in my country with thesame belief on this.

This is so true dear.
I have heard my own personal experience with the itchy of hands.

Yes, the hitting of leg is also true because my friends who believe it in have shared their stories.

Woww, am so amazed how common most signs are between several cultures, we really do live in a small bubble.

Yeah, I think it makes us see things in a different light about someone,I believe all these are attributes that makes us who we are.

Thank you for being so open minded and interested about cultures different and far away from urs.

Did anything bad happened to you after seeing that owl?

Have you found hitting toes to be a truth?

Thinking about it at this moment I would say yes and no, why? you may ask, yes because, when you grow in a very superstitious culture like mine, even a mosquito bite would be linked to that thing you think is evil, example the owl.

No? because,I am deep into by faith with God, and I believe he will not let the plans of the evil one to prevail over me. So I take everything as a test to my faith, and I pray About such situations like that of the owl.

Am sorry for such a long response, I still feel justice is still not done to your question properly.
