Picture this.
There’s a building for a family of six including the husband, wife, and their four children, however, they live in a small house which they just bought because they wouldn’t spend a dime fixing anything in there, but the children would all have to manage a room, while the parents take one also.
The kitchen is not as spacious, but the design is a bit better. Garden is absent, so, there’s no free space for their cats and parrots to explore. It has three bathrooms, one each for the two rooms, and the other one for the guest. The living room is just a little spacious to accommodate half a set of chairs. And the house is expensive because the owner spent a lot to build it. Not comfortable, right?
I’ve always said I do not want a big house however the size of the building should be spacious enough to accommodate the size of family I want and be very comfortable for my pets too. So, I have the taste of houses I already would want to have.
As tempting as the small and finished building is, it’s not giving “my comfort”, rather, it’s giving, “just take it because you won’t have to spend a dime on it”, so, I do not want it.
The house with the beautiful years behind it on the other hand, can be renovated to my taste. The kitchen will be spacious, and beautifully designed, the living room, spacious to accommodate comfortable set of chairs, separate rooms for the parents, and the children, playrooms, guest room, comfortable and beautifully designed bathrooms to match. I want a small vegetable garden at the back of the house too, so yeah, I can do that if I decide to renovate the big, old, and less expensive building.
I know it will cost some money to do that, but economically speaking, the difference will not be as much, and if it is, it would be “paying for the comfort of myself, and my family”. It will eventually be worth it by the time we move in, and the serenity welcomes us into the house.
Home is beyond a building, rather, it is a home, it is where peace is, it is where memories are, it is where comfort is, and as long as I have the money to buy the comfort, I definitely will be paying for it even it means spending extra money on making sure everything is intact.
Now that I still rent an apartment, comfort is the first thing I consider because I don’t want to have to be groaning or regretting my choice at the end of the day. So, if the space I rented is old, and not expensive, yet can be refurbished, with my whole heart, I will take it and remodel it up to my taste. Oh, I already did that. And so far, it has paid off. I will apply the same thing to buying the old building and making it into what I want for myself and my family because peace and comfort come first.
