Hi ladies if hive! I hope you all are doing well. I would love to share my thoughts on one of this week's prompts.
“Sustainable Fashion: How do you dress stylishly and ethically without breaking your budget?”
I can't say I'm stylish but I have a decent wardrobe. I'm a sewist so having clothes is not much of a problem but still struggling to have other accessories like shoes and bags. Regardless, I have to dress well and these are what I do to look good on a budget
As I said earlier I make clothes, so I wear most of my handmade clothes, but if it is a cloth I can't make or get the materials for, I will try to buy it or if there is a thrifted option I will go for that. Thrifting has saved me a lot especially when I'm on budget. I also get thrifted bags and shoes and most of them are very durable.
For the shoes or bags, I buy mostly neutral colours that can go with everything. Especially my everyday accessories.
Another thing I do is to always choose quality over quantity. Buying quality products has saved me money in the long run. Especially for outfits or accessories I often wear. I have realized that low-quality products are just a waste of money in the long run. Also sometimes, quality products are not always expensive, if you buy from a direct source, so I get most of my outfits and accessories from the market.
Lastly, dress style does not only revolve around your outfits, your appearance like hair, skin, nails, makeup etc also adds to the overall stylishness. And since I'm on a budget, doing these things can be quite pricey, so I try to DIY. Sometimes I make my hair myself, even though it is like buns or short braids. YouTube has been helpful in that aspect. I will be learning how to do my nails shortly.
Sewing my clothes, thrifting, choosing quality over quantity, and DIYs have helped me to dress stylishly and ethically on a budget.
