It's always great to have a taste of another culture, you know, @kerrislravenhill. In a moment you will get to experience something different and unique, leaving you with lovely memories that whenever you reflect on those days, you will just smile softly and be happy. 😍
Lagos State Nigeria is a city that never sleeps, and I can tell you for free that visiting me over here for three days will leave you with unimaginable experiences that will make you crave a second return. Did you know that Lagos State is the heartbeat of Africa? Hold on... Just have a sneak peek of your upcoming experience with me.
Day 1:
You will begin your taste of Lagos life in the morning with one of our traditional Nigerian breakfasts. Akara and pap (bean cake and fermented corn pudding).
It is usually a combo loved by many people over here, and I am sure you will love it too. After this morning's experience with our native food combo, we will move down to the Lekki Conservation Centre.
From the name, you already have an idea of what your experience will look like. It's a place where nature is calling, so calming and refreshing. It has a canopy walkway, and that's Africa's longest; walking across it is an unusual experience. There are monkeys, friendly ones, and lots of greenish nature to embrace you as you tour around the conservation center, feeding your eyes with lots of refreshing activities over there.
Leaving the Lekki Conservation Centre, we will drop by at the Nike Art Gallery for a few minutes so you can behold local artists and admire our diverse tribes with their work.
And what is a first day of your visit to my city without Nigerian jollof rice? Woot! This will be your dinner, in one of the best restaurant over here for a good treat. I can imagine you savoring our unique jollof rice with maybe pepper soup while you enjoy a soft live band playing in the background while having your dinner. The combo is heavenly; this is me giving you a clue already, lol.
Day 2:
You will experience aspects of our culture better on this day with some connections with my family. There is a place called the cultural center on Lagos Island. In there, you will explore more of our histories through art, and that will make you feel at home. Strolling down to Balogun Market, you will be welcomed with amazing fabrics and beads; the large population of street vendors with varieties of products on a large scale will keep you so lively. You will simply be in awe of what your eyes will behold over there.
Then in the evening, we will be in my home with my family for a well-planned family dinner, where you will have a taste of homemade pounded yam with vegetable soup. It promises to be fun, filled with storytelling from my kids; just trust us for unique hospitality, hehehe.
The final day...
It will be very calming and refreshing, maybe reflective as well, but think of a beach experience in Lagos. Think of a boat cruise, think of the natural ocean breeze with some local dance out there. Think of the roasted plantain and catfish you will be enjoying while listening to the local music and dance at the beach with freshly harvested coconut juice you will be sipping in between.
The experiences will be heavenly, I promise. There are games in there too if you have spare strength; maybe play chess or volleyball or throw yourself in the swimming pool for another round of refreshment, you know...lol.
Wow, I am sure that after this third day, you must have new experiences in my city, and that means many stories to tell, but I will ensure we stop by our local market to buy you some souvenirs, preferably our local aso oke and maybe wood carvings, so you can share your people in your country when you go home, kind of something to remember your visit to Lagos State, Nigeria.
It's going to be a fun-filled adventure for you, leaving you with unforgettable memories, and I am sure you will go home craving our spicy Nigerian food. 🌶️😉
