LOH #188: The real me

in Ladies of Hive6 months ago

If there is one thing I know about myself, it is that I do not have a smiling face. My resting face can come across as ‘avoid me at all costs’ but in reality that's just how my face is. My mum and friends have always complained that I need to smile more often at people and in pictures.

I just tell them I can't be walking on the road and be smiling like a mad person and when they tell me to look less mean I simply reply that I do not look mean…again that's just my face.

So that brings me to the question of the week :How do people see you? How do you wish people saw you?

People who do not know me consider me to be a strict and uptight person. They think I am this mean, scary person who doesn't like to talk. They make this judgment based on their physical assessment of me and not because they tried to get to know me and I showed them this character.

Most girls, on the other hand, think I am too serious as a young lady and I need to let my hair down. But then again, I've never been that person who considers going out all the time, staying out late or dating multiple guys my idea of having fun.

As an introvert, I would rather stay indoors with my favorite people and watch movies or read. It does not mean that I do not go out at all, of course, I go out occasionally with friends to dance, eat and have a good time.

My people who know me really well know I'm the opposite of uptight. I'm jovial, playful and can talk for Africa. And I definitely know how to have fun. So when other people complain to them, they just urge them to get to know me first before judging. Then tell me about the complaints.

How do I wish people see me? Honestly, I like myself just the way I am. I am kind, loving, funny and a hard-working young lady. I would like people to see that and also to see me as a goal getter and a young lady focused on achieving her dreams. And that I do not bite!

But if there is anything I would work on, it would be on relaxing my facial muscles and appearing less scary. And try to make an effort when people actually walk up to me and say “hey fine girl stop frowning, smile” (I hear this a lot).

Who knows, maybe a big smile on my face would stop the ‘keep away’ vibes and make everyone happy.

Thanks for reading.

I also believe there must be a reason for going out and not just roaming around aimlessly.

Thank you! Most people don't get it😊

Yeah, do work on having a smiling face lore because aside that, you're amazing... And i hope people see for that.

Thank you @merit.ahama 😊

I seemed to have the same issue. I rarely smile at all. I go through every photograph I have and realize that hardly do.

Lol Is it weird that I'm glad I'm not the only one who rarely smiles? 😁
