Hello Ladies of Hive, firstly, I’ll like to say thank you for your support on my last posts. As a newcomer here, I found that highly encouraging.
Now to answer the question:
Like most Ladies of Hive, you probably have plans and goals for the future, but today let's focus on the present. Tell us what part of your life you enjoy most right now.
Presently, the part of my life I enjoy the most is being a face model.
For so long, I shy away from being a face model and stuck with beauty pageantry simply because of my eyes. I had been long insecure about the fact that one of my eyes is slightly bigger than the other, a condition from birth. I thought it to be a disfigurement.
I thought it as something that’ll be so obvious in my pictures and make people ask questions. Questions I was quite certain I am not interested in answering.
But then, one day, my friend who had just finished learning the art of makeup needed a muse for her final practice, the one that’ll earn her the certificate.
All the online models she hoped to book charged her a great deal. Out of the sheer will to help, I agreed to be her model. I was concerned however, I even told her about it, but she said not to worry.
We did the makeup, she posted it online and alas, everybody both online and offline were more focused on the makeup and the beauty of the model than the eyes.
This led me to believe that most of the tiny insecurities we see in ourselves are not even noticed my other people. Or in fact, the better attributes in us overshadows the not so good.
While I have tried to make sure I am not just acting blindly, that is, my validation is not out of people ignoring this thing about me. I have just chosen to embrace it fully. Sometimes, I get questions, sometimes I even get rejected by some makeup artists. But all those are nothing compare to the amount of compliments I get every time I model for a makeup artist.
Plus the fact that I genuinely enjoy it so much. How each makeup artist uses my face as a canvas and paint their different strokes re-defining my beauty in their own signature. It’s always a fascination for me.
This aspect of my life right now, I never could have imagined but it is indeed the most fun for me.
