Today's poem will be a little bleak since I'm currently sick and I cannot think positively during this time. I am naturally pessimist although it doesn't show a lot. So, during these times, my dark side shows and I want to share that part of me.

Depression
Morning arrives without a reason why,
The light feels dull against the sky.
You don't want to move out of bed,
Already tired inside your head.
Conversations pass like muted sound,
You nod along but no one is found.
Not even a laugh can slip away,
No energy for the smile to stay.
Thoughts repeat in looping lines,
Old regrets and wasted times.
Your eyes rest but mind refuse.
You feel like the mind has something loose.
You carry weight no one can see,
A silent ache that follows thee.
It slows your steps, it bends your spine,
Yet still you tell others, "I am fine."
Some days you fight, some days you stall,
Some days you don’t feel much at all.
Strength looks small, but still it’s there,
Hiding in breath, in getting through air.
There's really no reason you feel this way.
You just want to push everyone away.
A time for rest, some time for you,
A little cry on the pillow, boo hoo.
These are the cracks you don't let anyone in,
Tiny down days you cannot win.
A song, a meal, maybe a walk,
I am still fine though I don't want to talk.
These are the days depression hits.
A feeling where nothing fits.
But don't worry. This happens. It's just one night.
Tomorrow I'll be happy and see me once again fight.
