Warm greetings everyone!
Welcome to my blog as I present my response to the prompt as was presented to the community by the moderator @elizabethbit.
Spices make life and food interesting. If a spice could describe you and your personality, what would it be and why?
Have you ever wondered how the taste of soup well prepared with sea foods and chicken with other condiments would be without a pinch of salt in it? That is how important salt is to food. The queen of all ingredients, the master of the kitchen, the head of all spices. The spice that gives meaning to every other spice. You have no spice in your kitchen if every other one is present but salt, lol.
Yes, everyone uses salt to cook and without it our food would be tasteless irrespective of the recipes used in cooking that food. Salt leaves food better than it found it. Salt is sweet, though it may appear less attractive but its value is noticed when it lands on the tongue. Without the presence of salt the quality of our food would be nothing if measured with a scale of taste bud.
Aside from the taste that salt adds to food, it also has some health benefits. Salt helps the muscles and nerves to relax, prevents dehydration especially when one carries out many physical activities, and improves overall health. However, it must be taken in the right proportion. That is moderation. Salt gives meaning to food such that the absence of it makes our food incomplete. Salt enhances the overall quality of food.
If salt is a personality trait, it reflects who I am. I like leaving people or things better than I found them. I like my absence to be felt not by noise but by the value I add wherever I am. I may look quiet and calm outwardly but I'm hot when it comes to making people or things feel my impact. I go out of my way to make the people around me comfortable.
I smile a lot too. Smiles eases stress both to the one smiling and the one opposite them. It leaves a lasting impression on a stranger. There's no single person who knows me that would not identify me by my smiling nature. Just like salt if added to a food, it leaves you smiling after tasting. That's how I leave anyone who comes around me with smiles and soothing words not by flattering but genuine compliments.
However, I value moderation as excess of anything is bad. In every one of my dealings with people be it personal or public. I'm very conscious of maintaining boundaries. Directly or indirectly, verbally or non verbally stated because I value my self respect, and to maintain that, there should be a limit to which you relate to people, you respect your bounds and theirs too, as excesses breed contempt.
Salt is one spice that a healthy body cannot do without, due to its unique nature. It changes the overall state of food when added, leaves it better than it found it, yet must be in moderation. That is my personality trait.
