Hello ladies at hive 👋 This is my second post in the LOH community. In the 262nd round of the LADIES OF HIVE contest, hosted by the community and judged by judges and questioner @joanstewart, I chose the first theme, mental health.
As a self-reflection, considering October is Mental Health Awareness Month, it's a good time to remember that taking care of your mind and heart (feelings) is just as important as taking care of your body. Behind a healthy body lies a strong soul and mind. Whether it's talking to friends at school, coworkers at the office, playing outside, or simply taking a deep breath when things feel tough—small steps can make a big difference. Let's care about our mental health.
If someone asked me the question: Is taking care of your mental health still important in this day and age?
Of course, my answer would be very important, even a must. This means that taking care of your mental health is our obligation as emotional beings. Especially in today's world, where many people are easily swayed by trends, many women find themselves trapped in friendship circles where everything must be the same; from lifestyle to dress, to the way we speak and socialize.
Mental illness often arises from mental stress. This stress often stems from external pressure, whether from family, society, or friends. I think one way to maintain our mental health is by distancing ourselves from toxic people and environments. What I mean is that we must take courage to take action by distancing ourselves from people who frequently say unkind things about our dress code, our skin color, or our birthplace. We must also have the courage to confront negative environments by learning to let go of them as long as they don't harm our lives.
Another effort we must make to maintain our mental health is to learn to live as we are. Don't make things up that aren't there. In other words, don't let yourself be pressured or tortured by lifestyle. The universe invites us to live simply. There's nothing wrong with being modern, but forcing ourselves to look cool when we're financially strapped is reckless.
Furthermore, meditate regularly to maintain our mental health. Be diligent in observing the lives of people out there who are less fortunate than we are. I don't mean to compare, but this can be a source of encouragement for us to be more grateful for the lives we live.
Let's support each other and remind ourselves: it's okay to ask for help, and it's okay to feel what you feel. 💚
