The attitude you took towards being the "new girl" is a great way to have a solid foundation in any situation I think. As is what you said later on about other people's perceptions:

I am myself and I am not going to change to suit anyone's expectation, neither do I expect them to make efforts to think about me in a manner that I desire.

👏🙌 This resonated with my heart. We should aim to do no harm, and otherwise just follow our own path... it can be hard to stay in this mindset, so I like to remind myself of the famous quote "What other people think is none of my business". 😂
