Hola amigas de Ladies of Hive. ¡Primer post en esta comunidad! Ahora estoy en esa etapa de descubrir comunidades y comenzar a publicar en ellas para salir de mi zona de confort y conectar con más personas. Si me lo permiten, les haré una breve presentación para quienes no me conozcan. Soy una joven de 23 años que lucha por sus sueños y que desea hacer amigos a lo largo y ancho del mundo. Que a su vez ama compartir reflexiones, música y contenido propio de su creatividad en su blog personal. Espero les sea atractivo lo que vengo a contar hoy.
Hello Ladies of Hive friends, first post in this community! Now I'm in that stage of discovering communities and start posting in them to get out of my comfort zone and connect with more people. If I may, I'll give you a brief introduction for those of you who don't know me. I am a 23 year old young woman who fights for her dreams and wants to make friends all over the world. Who in turn loves to share reflections, music and content of her own creativity in her personal blog. I hope you find what I have to tell you today appealing.
Soy profesora en la universidad de idioma Inglés. Trabajo con estudiantes que en un futuro se convertirán también en profesores que van a enseñar el idioma. Hace unos meses atrás, uno de esos días que asisten pocos alumnos a clase porque se acerca el fin de semana, me hicieron una pregunta de esas que te ponen la cabeza y las ideas revueltas porque nunca antes te habías cuestionado que eso pudiera suceder a pesar de que ocurra cada día. Fue algo tan sencillo y complejo al mismo tiempo que hasta hoy me tiene pensando.
I am an English language teacher at the university. I work with students who in the future will also become teachers who will teach the language. A few months ago, one of those days when there are few students in class because the weekend is approaching, I was asked one of those questions that make your head and ideas spin because you had never before questioned that this could happen even though it happens every day. It was something so simple and complex at the same time that to this day it has me thinking.
Mi alumna me pregunta qué tipo de libros prefiero, y así de la nada que si alguna vez había leído algún libro que tuviese como protagonista a una mujer negra. A eso le añade que siempre que encuentra un buen libro en internet tiene las mismas características: una muchacha blanca, ojos claros, un chico rubio y tóxico, un amor que empieza bien, se pone mal y luego acaban juntos después de cruzar varios obstáculos juntos y que le gustaría sentirse identificada con un personaje parecido a ella (a nosotras).
My student asks me what kind of books I prefer, and out of the blue if I've ever read a book with a black woman as the main character. To that she adds that whenever she finds a good book on the internet it has the same characteristics: a white girl, light eyes, a blonde and toxic guy, a love that starts well, goes bad and then they end up together after crossing several obstacles together and that she would like to feel identified with a character similar to her (to us).
Yo simplemente contesté que jamás he visto uno tampoco y ahí quedaron esas palabras resonando hasta hoy. Pregunté a mi mamá cuando llegué a la casa y me dijo algunos de autores cubanos, pero son infantiles (no es lo que buscamos). Entonces hoy pregunté a Chat GPT antes de comenzar a escribir y me sugirió 10 novelas actuales de Wattpad que se parecen a lo que buscamos.
I simply answered that I have never seen one either and those words echoed to this day. I asked my mom when I got home and she told me some by Cuban authors, but they are childish (not what we are looking for). Then today I asked Chat GPT before I started writing and she suggested 10 current Wattpad novels that resemble what we're looking for.
Están ahí, existen, pero sé si se han vuelto virales o han sido promocionadas. Sería interesante poder leer una historia de un cabello enmarañado y crespo como el mío, con situaciones como las que a veces vivo yo, con amores que no han sucedido por cobardía del otro porque la chica es negra, o con alguien que la envidie y la moleste, que no pueda aguantar sus méritos por la misma razón expresada antes.
They are there, they exist, but I know if they have gone viral or have been promoted. It would be interesting to be able to read a story of a tangled and frizzy hair like mine, with situations like the ones I sometimes live, with loves that have not happened because of cowardice of the other because the girl is black, or with someone who envies her and bothers her, who cannot stand her merits for the same reason expressed before.
Son realidades que a diario enfrentamos en la sociedad, pero que no son contadas y entonces pasan como desapercibidas para los demás. Si de casualidad apareciera alguna es esclava, nunca empoderada.
Todo esto debiera contarse. Como luchamos por nuestros sueños. Como trenzamos nuestros cabellos o lo llevamos natural, como cocinamos, cantamos, bailamos, nos enamoramos, trabajamos, despertamos, sufrimos, reímos y en general todo aquello que somos nosotras.
These are realities that we face every day in society, but they are not told and therefore go unnoticed by others. If by chance any of them appear, they are slaves, never empowered.
All this should be told. How we fight for our dreams. How we braid our hair or wear it natural, how we cook, sing, dance, fall in love, work, wake up, suffer, laugh and in general everything that is us.
La sociedad aún no visualiza esas historias para contarlas sin notar que hemos evolucionado a un pasado que nos hizo atender solamente la casa y ser sumisas a un patrón con ciertos deseos. Que ya no andamos silenciosas por los rincones, sino en todas partes con la frente en alto. Que no somos rivales, más bien amigas, y que nuestras vidas también son interesantes y tienen su magia. Que merecemos eso también. Que no solo somos moda, cabello y belleza, sino que tenemos vida.
Society still does not visualize these stories to tell them without noticing that we have evolved to a past that made us attend only to the house and be submissive to a boss with certain desires. That we no longer walk silently in the corners, but everywhere with our heads held high. That we are not rivals, but rather friends, and that our lives are also interesting and have their magic. That we deserve that too. That we are not only fashion, hair and beauty, but that we have life.
Ojalá algún día tanto internet como las librerías estén llenas de historias que sean voceras del desarrollo y del antirraciamo y del empoderamiento femenino negro para que entonces mi alumna y todas las que pensamos igual puedan leer feliz y encontrar respuestas a las interrogantes que traen consigo la juventud y encontrar ejemplo e inspiración en personajes que venzan las dificultades y sigan siempre adelante.
I hope that someday both the internet and bookstores will be full of stories that are spokespersons for development and anti-racism and black female empowerment so that then my student and all of us who think alike can read happily and find answers to the questions that youth brings with it and find example and inspiration in characters that overcome difficulties and always move forward.
