When it comes to thoughts everyone needs another who will be there to listen and offer insights and I am not exception. I missed my grandmother so much that when she was alive I couldn’t do without her when it comes to sharing my thoughts. May her soul find peace for the fact that she was a peaceful woman. Amen!
I will always remember her advice to me on working hard to realize myself instead of sitting idle. Although I have shared my story here on Hive when I got pregnant at younger age. Then my parents were not happy with me, she was the only one who consoled me and I can remember her telling me that “Mistakes are part of life, when you discover you have made them, Do not spend your whole day hoping for a reverse scenario or wishing it didn’t happen but instead look forward in finding a way with it”. This was her advice.
I wish I still had her today, I will discuss with her about my current thoughts, worries and fears. Maybe I will put few of it on Hive too. Probably a kind hearted person would be able to offer and advise about it.
I had a childhood friend, I met him in high school and back then our houses were just a stone throw from each other. For some time when we were growing up and had to move away from home for higher education, we lost contact and didn’t talk for some years.
Couple of months ago, something led to another and we met again. I saw his condition and knew something wasn’t going right. Out of a pitiful mind I have which I think I will stop that so it don’t put me in trouble. I decided to ask him about how he is faring with life and business.
He began telling me stories upon stories that things are not well with him and he is looking for a way to travel out of the country via the dessert which is normally called in Nigerian language as “ JAPA”.
I asked him what he will be going to do there. And he said if he finds menial cleaning job, he will do it.
This is an educated person and I felt so much for him that I went ahead to offer a solution thinking probably that was the reason we met again in the first place.
Reasons why I offered solution is that, I have heard stories leaving the country using dessert route, it’s a 70 – 30 journey. The 70 represents that it will be a failed mission and the 30 represent your chances of scaling through. It a battle between life and death.
This was when I told him about my rich friend who can help, probably he burrows money from him and set up a business because he told me he was a digital marketer. He said If he sees money to invest in getting resources he will definitely pay back. He even showed me few of his courses and how he advertised them to make his money. Then he didn’t have a laptop just a phone and I thought getting a laptop will be quite okay and very useful for him because he might decide to learn other skills that will add to his income. Since he was perfect at graphics design.
To cut the long story short, I spoke to my rich friend about this my childhood friend if he could lend him some money inform of loan to help him stand again. He said no problem and lent a sum of 200,000 then to this my childhood friend. Then such amount was a reasonable one that can not only get you a laptop but position your business to in the market amongst competitors.
Believe you me, when it was time to pay back the loan, my childhood friend disappeared into thin air. His numbers till today aren’t going through, his family is nowhere to be found since they packed out from the location and the person who lent the money is still on my neck today to pay back. Now this was a kind of person whom I valued our relationship and respected so much. Now my childhood friend has spoilt our relationship.
So these are my fears, I wish I was with my grandmother, I would have share it to with her. Sometimes when I am alone the thought of regrets comes about this situation. I will be feeling that If I had known I would have kept my ideas to myself and ket my mouth shut.
Although I am current paying the debt bit by bit till it’s completed. I have learnt my lessons too.
