Do you believe that we are happier today than we were in times gone by?
I was reading the comment section of a man who came to call out his wife on Facebook for deciding to get married after two years of leaving him and I could not help but smile at the way many people especially the ladies stood up for the women including those who may likely not know the entire story.
As a lady, I would say we are happier today than we were in times gone, and as a young lady, I would say I am not just happy but privileged to be in this generation, century, and dispensation because we are realizing and making things easier and simpler for ourselves and also looking out for ourselves.
We are surrounded by knowledge, we are becoming exposed and realizing that our lives don't revolve around certain things, we are beginning to look out for ourselves more and finding the easy route out if there is one, so we could also have the opportunity to enjoy and bask in the beauty that comes with life and living instead of risking our lives and putting ourselves in harm's way.
We are realizing that we do have a choice and have the capacity and ability to choose whatever we want for ourselves, we are realizing that most things don't have to be a "Do or die affair" and we are ready to take a walk when our life is threatened in such situations. We are realizing that women too can and could be anything and anyone they choose to be, we are beginning to realize that women have a space and spot wherever they choose and are not subjected to being just a "kitchen housewife" or "baby-making machine" whose life is meant to be put on hold or in halt as a result of marriage or childbearing.

We are realizing that we have a right to whatever we choose to do with our body and life and it doesn't matter if anyone accepts it or not. We are realizing that we are more than we used to give credit for and, can build a life of our own not necessarily around marriage and childbearing.
Women for years and centuries now, have taken the blow and have been confined due to cultural values and norms, they've been silent and muted, their voices have been seized, and they've been given out without a choice because society believed that they are weaker vessels and do not have a choice except to serve her husband and bear and take care of the home and children.
We are dominating and taking over, we are dominating in so many sectors and doing what is expected of us in that sector or position, we are breaking bounds and doing what society feels we couldn't and should not do because we are weak and do not deserve to do those things.
We are realizing that pain and suffering don't make one a better person or option than the other who chooses not to go through those stress and challenges, we are looking out for our health, and well-being in general and we are eradicating anything that may look like it.
So, yes, I believe that we are happier today than we were in times gone by, and I am happy about that, we are gaining vast knowledge, we are protecting ourselves more, we are standing up for what is not right, not caring about society and should not be done to us unlike back then when women were shout out because of fear of what society would say.
