Making my skin a priority
My skin is a priority because it’s the one outfit I wear every single day. It’s more than just appearance healthy skin means healthy barrier, protection, and confidence. I’ve learned that taking care of my skin isn’t vanity, it’s self-respect.
First, I focus on consistency over perfection. Cleansing morning and night removes dirt and sweat that clog pores. Moisturizing keeps the skin barrier strong, especially during harmattan when the air gets dry and dusty. Sunscreen is non-negotiable. UV damage causes 80% of premature aging and hyperpigmentation, so SPF 30+ every morning protects the progress I’ve made.
Second, I listen to my skin. If it’s oily, I reach for lightweight, non-comedogenic products. If it’s dry or irritated, I add hydrating ingredients like glycerin and hyaluronic acid. Ingredients like lactic acid help gently exfoliate and brighten without harsh scrubbing. I avoid jumping on every viral trend because my skin needs stability, not experiments.

Finally, skin care goes beyond products. Water, sleep, less stress, and a balanced diet show up on my face. Breakouts and dullness are often signals, not failures.
Making my skin a priority taught me patience. Results take weeks, not days. But when your skin feels calm, smooth, and healthy, you carry yourself differently. That glow is worth the routine. That’s why my skin will always be a priority because caring for it is caring for me.
