Marriage is a beautiful and unique thing in different parts of the World, Nigeria my country where I am from traditional marriage rites, attire, and practices are different, because we have different cultural beliefs, the attire of the Yoruba is different from that of the hause, edo's, Ibibio, Igbos and the Ijaws.
I come from the Ijaw part of Nigeria, Rivers State to be precise; our dressing is unique and expensive in its own way. I have attended many traditional weddings over and over again but I can't get tired of admiring their dressing.

Traditional marriage is not simple nor it's hard. In my culture, Before the traditional marriage rites take place, the lady's parents will have met with the man who wants to marry their daughter is called an introduction. Then, the parents of the lady will go for what they call a search is to get to know the background of the man their daughter is getting married to without his knowledge. Then, after getting to know the family background of the man, traditional marriage can go on or cancel.
When they are done, they now ask the man to come with his family for what is called knocking of door. After which the man comes back again with his people to collect the marriage list.
When the man and his family have collected the marriage list, then a date will be fixed for the main traditional marriage, and there must be an agreement between the two families.

On the day of the traditional marriage, when the Bride price is paid, the lady's family will make sure everything on the list is met, although there used to be some negotiation if the man in question could not pay for everything.
After he finished paying the Bride price. The Bride price is usually been returned back to the man to use in taking care of the lady. When the main traditional marriage ceremony starts, they cover some ladies' clothes and bring them out for you to identify which one is your wife among the ladies, of which, if you fail, you will pay. That part is always funny to watch.
After that then, they will give the lady a drink to go and give to her husband. She has to find her husband among the crowds and kneel down to give him a drink. She takes a sip and He drinks the remaining and then puts money in the cup; the bride and the groom will walk down to the families, kneeling down to get their blessings.
She will have to feed him their traditional food after collecting their family blessing together. This traditional marriage rite is the Riverlines custom in Rivers state.
