Yea, it is a common sign in my part of the country here, when you here such, then it means something definitely wants to happen, you can't just really tell if it's good or bad.

Exactly, you are right, just that most times we attach it to a bad occurrence...most times omens aren't just tied to an exact occurrence, but you know something feels off/odd, you know something is coming, just that you may not know what exactly it is.
