5 Years Strong
It was a half of a decade ago (does that make it sound longer?) that this psychotic guy came through our legacy chain - #steem, and Hive was birthed into the crypto realms. He thought it would be cool to rearrange and dissect it. People like @c0ff33a, @blocktrades, @guiltyparties and many others, moved quickly to thwart the would be disaster by forking from that blockchain and creating our new home - Hive.
Hive itself, has slowly but steadily, maintained a community driven experience for all of its users. Those experiences could be in the form of gaming, blogging or even just taking photographs or making videos. We have pretty much anything you could ever want in the social media sphere of the internet. What is it you want to do?
Maybe you want to just play games and perhaps earn a little for your efforts? Maybe you would like to passively build your portfolio by playing around in various liquidity pools? Maybe, you just want to find a place where you can connect with genuine people and make a few friends or even - become part of a family.

The Alliance is a Team
When The Alliance was first created, it was apparent, that to climb the proverbial ladder on this platform, one would need some help. One would need a team. And thus, The Alliance was hatched. Only, I didn't just want it to be a team. It had to be more.
Believe it or not, The Alliance was one of the first actual communities on Hive, emerging into existence on the legacy chain - Steem, before communities even existed as a sub-menu on #peakd or #hiveblog.
We have since, just as Hive has, evolved from having actual blogging classes and paid for bot voters to syndicates and discord bots to what we have now. All the while, there is one thing that has remained and will continue to, throughout the marathon we run with all of you dedicated enough to be involved.
The Alliance is a Family
Yes. A family. I felt a simple support system wasn't going to be enough. We had to have something that separated us (and still does) from other communities. Something that has carried into other ones as well. You can join our server. That doesn't make you family. You can join our trail. That doesn't make you family. You can even delegate to our primary curation account but again - that doesn't make you family. You can even do all three and that still won't make you family.
What makes you family is the engagement. Being there. Showing you care about more than just a vote. Yes, we ask for delegations, but that is so we can help others. By helping others first, you then start to help yourself. Ever heard the term or phrase 'pay it forward'? We do just that. Anyone on our trail or delegating to our curation account is also doing that and in doing so, expect(s) nothing in return. The return comes when the love is shown and grown beyond a monetary presence.
We also strive to help others when we can. We have helped raise up dozens (if not more) of communities and initiatives on and surrounding the #hiverse. Credit given or not, people know. We are not affiliated with any particular sect or align ourselves with any governmental issues. We accept anyone for who they are and what they want to become.
How To
Moving forward, there will only be one way to join the family. We have had many a vote seeker, which is fine, but that is not what we are about. First, you will have to join us in the Castle. From there, you will be directed to a specific channel upon which, you will be directed back here to comment that you understand what The Alliance is. Then, as an associate, you will be allowed to speak/type in the Castle.
You will then notice a 'getting to know you' channel, where we will all do exactly that. Once we feel we know you well enough, you become a 'friend' and can mingle in other parts of the Castle. If you have delegated to the family account (@thealliance) and shown you are willing to run this race with us, then we will see about getting you set up for our constant support. We want to help you, we really do, but you have to prove you are willing to help others and are really what the fam is about. #familyfirst
The Periodical Purge
These happen relatively often, believe it or not, where we adjust our percentages and the like. They are a full overhaul of the Castle members and our voting habits. We are supporting many people that are delegating to the family account that, we sometimes haven't seen any interaction with in quite some time. If you have been removed from the voter and the Castle entirely, you may just fall into that category. We will reach out to you, and see if you are still active, but we are also not babysitters. We hope you understand.
Community and Comradery
Regardless if you join us or not, do find somewhere you can hone your niche. Good places to feel out the chain are the Hive Onboard Committee, The Terminal and DreemPort. Feel free to ask any questions you may have in the comments below or any of the helpful servers and communities listed. In the meantime, know that this is more than just a race and we'll be running this marathon with you - one step at a time.
