I’m super excited to join this amazing community filled with K-pop lovers from all over the world. As someone who recently fell in love with K-pop, this topic really speaks to my heart. So let me share my personal K-pop story with you how it all started, my favorite artists, and the moment that made me a fan for life
I didn’t plan to love K-pop. In fact, I wasn’t even curious about it until one random night on YouTube, when I clicked on a music video just out of boredom. It was “Spring Day” by BTS. I didn’t understand the lyrics, but I felt the emotion. The visuals, the voices, the message, it hit somewhere deep. That was the moment everything changed. I replayed the video over and over again, and for the first time, music in another language felt so personal to me
From that day, I found myself exploring more. BLACKPINK’s confidence pulled me in next. TWICE made me smile. NewJeans gave me nostalgia in a way I didn’t know I needed. But for me, BTS remains my number one. There’s just something about the way they tell stories through their music. Whether it's about mental health, love, youth, or dreams, they always find a way to connect with people from different parts of the world including me here in Nigeria
My favorite K-pop song? Honestly, it’s tough to pick, but I’d say “Blue & Grey” by BTS. That song carried me through a time I was silently struggling with a lot. The honesty in their voices and the simplicity of the melody gave me comfort. I didn’t need a translation, I just felt it. And that’s the beauty of K-pop
It’s more than just catchy music or good looking idols. It’s about passion, hard work, and connection. The choreography, the fashion, the concepts, everything is well thought out. You can tell how much effort goes into every stage performance and comeback. As a creative person, I’ve learned so much just by observing how they move their audience
K-pop didn’t just become a genre I enjoy. It became a part of my journey teaching me self expression, self love, and even opening my heart to different cultures. And I’m proud to say that I’m a fan
