Back to another Nollywood movie, I know I often applaud my nation's movie industry whenever I watch a movie that leaves me sitting at the edge of my seat, waiting for those scenes to unfold, so I can grab everything that happened in the movie. The suspense in this movie is what made me love it more.
The plot
The movie tells the story of a single mother, "Vicky," but popularly as a sister by her employers. Vicky got pregnant at the age of seventeen with her first child and had to stay with her lover in the school hostel. While her lover focuses on his studies, Vicky, on the other hand, does petty jobs to fend for herself and her husband, who is at the university.
Everything took a different turn when her husband left her to go for his national youth service, dropping a heartbreaking letter, thereby leaving her with two children. Vicky didn't lose hope; despite being broken at that moment in her life, she wholeheartedly left the school hostel with her children and raised them by herself.
Life was smooth for her and her children till when her ex-lover showed up from the blues, she was almost crushed; in the wake of it all, her children opted for their father as he lavished his luxurious lifestyle on them. His luxurious acts gained the attention of his children thereby leaving Vicky feeling betrayed and angry.
My Review
Firstly I'm gonna applaud the director of this incredible movie, for bringing this story to life, I kind of resonate with this movie because my mother raised my siblings and me as a single parent, often I see tears in her eyes but then she would pretend to be okay whenever she sees us coming closer. Being a single parent isn't for the weak, especially when you are left with more than one child.
This movie is a masterpiece I'm not gonna lie, and to the lead cast "Kehinde Bankole" is one of my favorite actresses when it comes to the Nollywood industry; the way she suits every character is what amazes me the most; she is just so talented not to be noticed.
The movie portrays the term "unconditional love," and we can only get such love from our parents; they love us even when it's inconvenient for them. I feel like there are different kinds of love, but the love of a mother for her children is the kind of love that is indescribable. But then at some point when I saw the children embracing their father without thinking about what he did to their mother because he was rich and lavished his wealth on them.
I know how children can feel so eager in longing for their second parent, so the moment they found out about their father, they couldn't just help but love him "I know the love was attached to the wealth though" but then he drew them closer to himself without having to deny them in the presence of his wife. Their mother at the other hand was angry that her children just accepted their father into their lives despite all the stories she told them; I understand her point. Imagine leaving her with two children and with just the letter "nothing more."
Another thing is "true friendship." This movie portrays the true definition of friendship; despite being someone Vicky works for, she still stayed at the darkest times of Vicky's life and introduced her to new clients to expand her cleaning career. " I mean job".
This movie portrays the terms "acceptance and forgiveness," which was easily done by Vicky's children the moment they saw their father. They were happy their father was alive because Vicky told them he'd died. And also their stepmother who accepted Vicky's children into her husband's life without hesitation. The movie, in general, is a great one, and I'm gonna recommend it for everyone to watch. You are not gonna regret it.
I'm gonna rate this movie a 9/10 and the remaining one percent is for making me cry.
