When I initially watched The Karate Kid I thought that the film was not just a karate movie but also a quest of patience learning and selfconfidence The film begins with Daniel a lad who had recently moved to a new town and was trying to determine his role in the throng but was constantly bullied And that is where Mr Miyagi came into the picture the man who reformed his life in an amazing way and opened my eyes to learning karate in a whole different way.

The film is not about fight moves and punching but it is a study of persistence and commitment Mr Miyagi did not instruct Daniel in traditional karate in the first place but instructed him to do seemingly odd things like washing cars and motioning cleaning repeatedly Initially I was like him not understanding the connection between all of these items and karate but then I understood that every movement that he was rehearsing was creating really powerful skills without him realizing it I think this is an extremely brilliant idea because sometimes you can learn from unexpected things.

What I appreciated from the film is that Daniel was not a hero nor a creature with super powers He was just an ordinary child with a stubborn head and aspired to be the best He lived with ups and downs and it was what made his quest credible To me it is what makes the film exceptional because what the film is teaching us is that you cannot triumph easily but you can never triumph if you do not remain patient and persevere.

The peak was gripping and the most suspenseful segment of the movie when Daniel performed the crane maneuver and emerged victorious in the championship It was not just a victory in a fight it was a triumph over the fear the bullying and all his insecurities The film made me feel highly optimistic and encouraged to read more about the philosophy of martial artsnot just a sport but a philosophy that pervades the mind and lifestyle.
