ADELE RED

in CineTV10 days ago

Having been disappointed quite a lot in recent times by some of the movies dropping on our timelines , I clicked to watch this with a measure of skepticism albeit my admiration for Uche Montana’s acting prowess gave me a strong reason.

Alas, I’m here to say, this 1hr 52mins movie is well worth the watch.

PLOT SUMMARY

Adele Red is a social media influencer and owner of a skin care brand.

Away from the camera and razzmatazz of public gaze, she doubles as a seductress who believes that men should worship the very ground she walks on.

She would then get the shock of her life when her friend’s Pastor, amidst all her seductive gimmicks and advances towards him remains strong in the faith, vehemently resisting and fighting the temptation.

The Pastor on the other hand, falls into a trance where the seductress is his future wife; a revelation that comes to him as a surprise. Failing to achieve her aim at making the man of God fall for her games, Adele Red decides to continue seducing other men.

This would then lead to an ugly incident which shakes her very foundation, exposing many truths and taking her on a journey to repentance, forgiveness, redemption, restoration, restitution and finding healing from the wounds of a past traumatic experience.

MY THOUGHTS

Uche Montana is a great actress. Her face card is one that keeps delivering. Her facial expressions, body language and diction are impeccable.

I must say that I’m impressed by John Ekanem’s performance here as the pastor. He interpreted that role believably well.

I’m even more impressed at the narrative this film gave about the fact that some Pastors actually are able to fight the urge to commit sexual immorality.

Though somewhat overly dramatised, we could see how much the pastor battled at the alter in his house. Severally, he did great to “flee temptation!”

My question is “why did he go to the ladies’ house alone in the first place? Well, Christ went to visit Mary and Martha, and He was alone too, right?

This movie is interesting. However, there were some poor acting from some of the casts in some scenes.

For instance, the reporter for the broadcasting channel, what was she on about? With just a few lines to deliver, it felt like she wasn’t sure how to pronounce the words.

Also, the sound wasn’t so great as there appeared to have been some interference with soundtrack and voices of the actors that would require one to increase the volume on one’s device.

Furthermore, for the storyline and events that unfolded, the duration was kinda apt, but some scenes dragged longer than necessary.

The scene where Adele had a physical confrontation/struggle with Eric leaves much to be desired. Adele wasn’t even holding a knife at the exact time yet. Next thing, Eric falls to the ground holding his stomach…how? That scene got me confused.

Overall, this was interesting and engaging nevertheless. It just could have been better. The storyline reminds me of Prophet Hosea in the Bible, whom God instructed to marry the woman of “easy virtue” (a harlot). It's absolutely worth the watch, I’ll give this a 6/10.
I know my Bible!...lmao!

Hmm that seem like a refreshing storyline I'd love to see, and I love Uche Montana roles in movies.

Lol yeah, you sure know your bible. I'll check it out and watch on YouTube, nice review.

I love what I'm seeing in the Nigerian movie scenes these days. There's been a lot of improvement compared to before. The potential has always been there, it just needed to be tapped into. Nice review.
