RE: The Original Star Trek Trilogy

I wonder if tng holds up? Have you watched an episode lately?
I don't watch much tv anymore and when I do it's usually cartoons like Simpsons or family guy 😅
I may have to give it a watch next time I turn on the idiot box and see if it stood the test of time.

I turn on an episode every now and again when I find one. The last time may have been several years ago when I found it on Amazon Prime streaming and watched a few episodes. It's hard for me to judge if it still holds up, because the show is so tied into nostalgia for me. I turn it on and I'm a kid again, watching late at night when I should instead be doing homework. I think there is some casual racism and sexism that wouldn't fly today, and some of the effects are very outdated (though not as outdated as those on TOS) but overall I'd say it still works well. Probably the biggest thing that feels out of place these days is every episode is its own little world, with very little continuity between episodes. Something dramatic happens in one and then is never spoken of again and we never see any real effects of it. Even at the time that always felt kind of weird, but it really stands out now.
