Hello guys , I just finished watching Weak Hero Class 1 and I have to say that it completely blew me away. This Korean drama is made up of just eight episodes, but it is packed with so much action, emotion, and meaning that I couldn’t stop watching once I started.
Yeon Si-eun, a quiet, smart boy who is always top of his class is the center of the class. From the outside, he looks like the type of student who would never fight back. He’s polite, serious, and always reading a book. But deep down, he’s dealing with a lot. His dad is a national judo coach but is hardly ever around, and his mom is always working. So Si-eun is left on his own most of the time, and this made him build a wall around himself.
When he meets Ahn Su-ho, a strong but kind classmate who loves MMA,that was when everything changes. A very loyal and brave young man, su-ho protects Si-eun from bullies. For the first time, Si-eun experiences real friendship. I loved watching their bond grow—Su-ho made Si-eun laugh for the first time, and it was such a warm moment.
Later, they become friends with another boy, Oh Beom-seok. Beom-seok is quiet and gentle but comes from a rich home where he faces abuse from his father. Just like the others , he was also transferred from another school where he was bullied badly. At first, it felt like the three of them had found something special. They stood up for each other, protected one another, and seemed unstoppable.
But slowly, things started to fall apart. Beom-seok’s fears and insecurities grew worse. He felt like the odd one out, like he didn’t belong. Instead of talking to his friends about how he felt, he joined the wrong crowd—boys with bad records. Sadly, Beom-seok betrayed his friends. He set a trap with those boys, and Su-ho ended up in a coma because of it. That part broke me.
The last episode was painful. Si-eun, who always kept calm and used his brain to fight back, lost control. He went after the people who hurt Su-ho and beat them up one by one.
Meanwhile, Su-ho stayed in the hospital unconscious, and Beom-seok was sent abroad by his family—after destroying the one real friendship he ever had.
The ending made me so emotional to the point of crying. Nothing was really fixed. No happy ending. Just pain, silence, and lots of questions. But that’s what made it feel so real. Life doesn’t always wrap up perfectly. This is the main reason why I’m looking forward to Season Two—to see where Si-eun goes from here. Will he heal, or will he break?
All three main actors were amazing. Choi Hyun-wook, who played Su-ho, was my favorite. He brought so much life to his role. His scenes made me laugh, cry, and even cheer. Park Ji-hoon who avcted as as Si-eun, was also really impressive.. And Hong Kyung, as Beom-seok, made me feel sorry and frustrated at the same time. He played the role of a broken boy really well.
Weak Hero Class 1 is more than a school drama. The story about pain, friendship, betrayal, and survival and so deep. It will make you smile one moment and cry the next.
