It looks like the Polish friend of a friend made you try Hungarian food :) This looks like the lecsó shepherd's stew with an extra step or two (the usual recipe doesn't include beans or carrots). It's quite popular in Poland, too.

What's really weird, though, is that I'm reading this post about half an hour after eating the same dish. Wtf Hive, am I being watched?

        This is definitely not lecsó. I know it's popular in Poland and maybe looks similar but it's not. I have a lecsò recipe coming up too.
