Devido a que estoy enferma, no pude documentar lo que fue el carnaval en Maturín, la ciudad cercana a la que vivo. Yo soy nueva por aquí, tengo más de un año viviendo en Maturín y he podido conocer algunos lugares gracias a familiares que viven en la zona, también he conocido algunas cosas de su cultura y entre una de sus tradiciones más celebradas, es el canarval. Aqui se toman enserio los reinados, hasta en el pueblito más pequeño.
Because I am sick, I could not document what was the carnival in Maturin, the city near where I live. I am new around here, I have been living in Maturin for more than a year and I have been able to know some places thanks to relatives who live in the area, I have also known some things of their culture and one of their most celebrated traditions is the canarval. Here the reigns are taken seriously, even in the smallest town.
El día Domingo tuvimos la oportunidad de ir a un centro comercial llamado "Monagas plaza", ubicado en el Estado Monagas, en Maturín por la zona de tipuro, donde se estaba llevando a cabo el reinado para seleccionar a la reina de dicho centro comercial. Pasamos por aquí por pura casualidad porque queríamos almorzar y era el lugar más cercano.

We walked around the mall, in the food fair area there was a whole event for the queenitas, they were organizing everything for the girls to do their parades. I saw some people and groups that were going to perform there, they looked like dancers.
Dimos una vuelta admirando todo y decidimos pasar por Arturos para escoger nuestro almuerzo. Luego de ver el menú y por fin, escoger nos sentamos y esperamos nuestra orden. Les seré sincera, el tiempo de espera se mi hizo eterno y sólo teníamos a una persona por delante que también esperaba su pedido. Al rato, la cola para pedir se hizo bastante larga... Luego de unos 20 minutos nuestra comida llego.

This was my first time eating something from Arturos and I didn't know what to expect. When the food arrived the first thing I noticed was the smell of the spicy BBQ wings. The burger I ordered was a Mayo crunch burger for a price of $3.00, with vegetables, crispy chicken and mayonnaise, its flavor was mild and made a good combination. Nuestra comida parecía demasiado para nosotros,pero realmente como las porciones son pequeñas. Mi novio dipió una hamburguesa Pana Crunch que tenía un precio de 5$ y le puso un extra de queso cheddar por 0.5$ adicional, a diferencia de la mía la de él tenía queso cheddar, pepinillos y algo que parecía una ensaladita.
Our food seemed too much for us, but really as the portions are small. My boyfriend had a Pana Crunch burger,which was priced at $5.00 and added extra cheddar cheese for an additional $0.50. unlike mine his had cheddar cheese, pickles and something that looked like a small salad.
Al terminar de comer dimos una mirada y ya habían reinas en la parte del jurado y personas sentadas, esperando el show de carnaval. Unos primos nos fueron a buscar y seguimos nuestro día.
When we finished eating we looked around and there were already queens in the jury area and people seated, waiting for the carnival show. Some cousins came to pick us up and we continued our day.
