Hi everyone, on a recent walk with my sister, we were just browsing around and came across a few things that caught our attention. While several products and merchandise that have been available in other states for some time have been arriving here in San Juan, something we hadn't seen before was the new Glup pineapple-passion fruit flavor. We didn't even know they had released this flavor, so we quickly and immediately jumped at the chance to buy it.
Hola a todos, en una reciente caminata con mi hermana, curioseando un poco, nos topamos con algunas cosas que llamaron nuestra atención y, si bien han estado llegando acá a San Juan varios productos y mercancía que ya está desde algún tiempo en otros estados, algo que no habíamos visto era el nuevo Glup piña-parchita; incluso nosotras ni siquiera sabíamos que habían sacado este sabor al mercado, por lo que rápido e inmediatamente aprovechamos a comprarlo.
It's worth mentioning that we only got the two-liter version, and the price varied wildly from store to store. We got it for 170 bolívares, which would be about $1.50, and that's even though we saw it for over $2 (I think it's because it's new here in the city). The thing is, what caught my attention at first was that it was pineapple and passion fruit. To put it mildly, I personally don't like pineapple, so my expectations were uncertain.
Cabe mencionar que solo conseguimos la presentación de dos litros y su precio variaba muchísimo entre un comercio y otro. Nosotras lo conseguimos en 170 bolívares, que serían como 1.5$ más o menos, y eso que llegamos a verlo en más de 2$ (creo que es por el tema de que es nuevo acá en la ciudad). La cosa es que de primeras lo que me llamó la atención es que fuera piña y parchita, que, para decir algo, personalmente no me gusta la piña, por lo que mi expectativa era inquieta.
Now, at first glance it has a rather yellow color; at first glance it looks like a common pineapple soda, but its aroma is literally passion fruit for me, being somewhat striking, and in terms of flavor it is quite refreshing, but at the first sip I felt my mind confused, since it does not give you the sensation that you are drinking a soda, but rather it seems more like a juice due to how smooth it is. Likewise, I have to give the fact that I am not a fan of very cold soda because I do not like the gas aspect, but on this occasion I tried it both cold and hot and it is not strong with the gas aspect, so it was quite good for me, but I must say that it leaves a slight bitter touch at the end of each sip.
Ahora bien, en primeras impresiones tiene un color bastante amarillo; a la vista parece un refresco de piña común, pero su aroma es literal parchita para mí, siendo algo llamativo, y en cuanto a sabor es bastante refrescante, pero en el primer sorbo sentí mi mente confusa, ya que no te da la sensación de que estás tomando un refresco, sino que más bien parece un jugo por lo suave que es. Así mismo, tengo que dar el dato de que no soy fan del refresco muy frío porque no me gusta el tema de gas, pero en esta ocasión lo probé tanto frío como caliente y no es fuerte con el tema gas, por lo que fue bastante bueno para mí, pero debo decir que deja un ligero toque amargo al final de cada sorbo.
In my sister's case, it had a strange taste, but she liked it at the same time; it tasted like pineapple, and she preferred it cold, unlike me, who thinks it's even better at room temperature. My mom liked it too, so it was a good choice; however, I don't think it would be a drink for a long time. Now, we were looking for something to pair it with, and while we were shopping for something, we found some small, new, and reasonably priced candy.
En el caso de mi hermana, se le hizo un sabor raro, pero a la vez le gustó; le supo a piña y lo prefirió frío, a diferencia de mí, que siento que es mejor incluso a temperatura normal. También a mi madre le gustó, por lo que fue un acierto; sin embargo, no siento que sería un refresco para tomar seguido. Ahora bien, estábamos viendo con qué acompañarlo y, en nuestro camino buscando qué comprar, conseguimos unas pequeñas chucherías que también son nuevas y que estaban a buen precio.
These candies called angles came in three presentations, which were a kind of cheese-flavored corn sticks, cheese-flavored cones, and spicy cones. I'm usually a big fan of trying candies with spicy touches, and the presentation caught my attention, so we chose the two presentations of cheese and spicy cones and got ready to queue up to pay for them.
Estas chucherías llamadas ángulos en tres presentaciones, que eran una especie de palitos de maíz sabor queso, conitos sabor queso y conitos picantes, yo suelo ser muy fan de probar chucherías con toques picantes y la presentación me llamó la atención, por lo que elegimos las dos presentaciones de conitos queso y picante y nos dispusimos a hacer nuestra colita para pagarlas.
Now, regarding these, their presentation is quite striking, and we only saw this 40-gram package, since, as we said before, they're new here. In terms of portion, I feel they're quite balanced, and when you open both the cheese and spicy flavors, their aroma is quite strong.
Ahora bien, con respecto a estas, su presentación es bastante llamativa, y solo pudimos ver este empaque de 40 gramos, ya que, como dijimos antes, son nuevas acá. En cuanto a porción, siento que traen bastante equilibrado, y al abrir ambas, tanto en el de queso como en el picante, su aroma es bastante fuerte.
In this case, the cones are small, but still comfortable to hold, and when you try them, both have an intense flavor, first the cheese. This one doesn't taste like the artificial cheese found in other sweets, but more like white cheese, but it's quite tasty. It's not very salty, which accentuates the flavor even more, and it's quite crunchy, leaving that flavor clearly on the palate. It's my sister's favorite, giving it a 10 out of 10, but it's not as strong for me.
En este caso, los conitos pequeños, pero aun así no son incómodos de agarrar, y al momento de probarlos, ambos tienen un sabor intenso, primero el de queso. Este tiene un sabor no al queso artificial de otras chucherías, sino más como a queso blanco, pero bastante sabroso. No es muy salado, lo cual acentúa más el sabor, y es bastante crujiente, quedándote incluso ese sabor bien marcado en el paladar y siendo el favorito de mi hermana, dándole un 10 de punto, pero a mi gusto no es tan fuerte.
With the spicy one, on the other hand, the flavor is quite strong; it has that hint of pepper that makes your ears feel hot, but it's a very addictive flavor, and I must say that its aroma lingers for a long time, which even makes you want to eat it again. Both my mom and I loved it so much; for that rich, spicy flavor, it gets my 10 points. Paired with the soda, it goes really well, which we took advantage of to enjoy for a while.
Con el picante, en cambio, el sabor es bastante fuerte; tiene ese toque de pimienta que te llega a hacer sentir calientes las orejas, pero es un sabor muy adictivo y debo decir que su aroma queda muy penetrante por mucho rato, lo que incluso hace que quieras volver a comerlos. Tanto a mí como a mi mamá nos encantó demasiado, por ese gusto de picor rico y por completo se lleva mis 10 puntos, y en compañía con el refresco se combina muy bien, cosa que aprovechamos para disfrutar mucho durante un rato.
