That's a key point. To have the awareness to see that what we are doing is not actually what we think we are doing.

persistence involves flexibility, openness to suggestions, and gently applying tactics of withdrawal, as well as consistent efforts when necessary

I hadn't thought of retreating or pausing as tools for persisting. I'd always seen them as part of giving up.

Yes, I am happy that I was able to detect that and quickly adjusted before it gets out of hand.

I always retreat and come back to things as a strategy to refuel and reflect for a better comeback.
