Hello, Hive friends.
We continue with the theme of soccer and the FIFA Club World Cup. On this occasion, I will give you a summary of the group stage, including the matches of the three rounds in the eight groups and the clubs that have qualified for the round of 16.
I'll try not to go on too long because there are a lot of games and I don't want to make this post too long, so I'll just comment on a few notable games.
Group A.
In Group A, we find Palmeiras from Brazil, Porto from Portugal, Al-Ahly from Egypt, and Inter Miami from the United States.
From this group, I would highlight the third round matches. Two very competitive games that ended in a draw, resulting in Palmeiras and Inter Miami qualifying for the next round.
Group B.
Group B includes PSG from France, Atlético de Madrid from Spain, Botafogo from Brazil, and Seattle Sounders from the United States.
From this group, I would highlight two matches. the first being PSG's 4-0 victory over Atlético de Madrid in the first round and Botafogo's 1-0 victory over PSG, in a match that pitted the current champions of the Copa Libertadores de América and the UEFA Champions League against each other.
PSG and Botafogo qualified from this group.
Group C.
This group included Benfica from Portugal, Bayern Munich from Germany, Boca Juniors from Argentina, and Auckland City from New Zealand.
In this group, I would highlight Bayern Munich's 10-0 victory over Auckland City in the first round and Benfica's 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich.
Here, Benfica qualified in first place and Bayern Munich in second, which came as a surprise.
Group D.
Group D includes Chelsea from England, Flamengo from Brazil, Espérance from Tunisia, and Los Angeles FC from the United States.
From this group, I will highlight only one match: Flamengo's 3-1 victory over Chelsea, the second time in the competition that a South American team has beaten a European giant.
Here, Flamengo finished first in the group and Chelsea second, which is another surprise in the standings.
Group E.
Group E features Inter from Italy, Monterrey from Mexico, Urawa Red Diamonds from Japan, and River Plate from Argentina.
Here I highlight the 1-1 draw between Inter and Monterrey in the first round and Inter's 2-0 victory over River Plate in the third round, a match that the Argentines ended up playing with two players down.
There were no major surprises in this group, apart from the elimination of River Plate in the group stage, with Inter qualifying in first place and Monterrey in second.
Group F.
Group F features Borussia Dortmund from Germany, Fluminense from Brazil, Mamelodi Sundowns from South Africa, and Ulsan HD from South Korea.
Without wishing to be sarcastic, one of the matches I enjoyed most in this group was Sundowns vs Ulsan in the first round. A match that, after two disallowed goals and an interesting tactical display by Sundowns, resulted in a 1-0 victory for the South Africans.
The 4-3 victory by Dortmund over Sundowns in the second round was also very exciting. An incredible match.
After watching these matches, I sincerely wanted Sundowns to qualify for the round of 16, but unfortunately the results did not go their way, with Dortmund and Fluminense qualifying instead.
Group G.
In this group, we saw Manchester City from England, Juventus from Italy, Wydad Casablanca from Morocco, and Al-Ain from the United Arab Emirates play.
This was the most uneven group of all, as both Wydad and Al-Ain failed to show they had what it takes to compete against the European giants, without wishing to belittle them.
From this group, I would highlight Manchester City's 5-2 victory over Juventus in the third round.
There were no surprises in this group, as Manchester City and Juventus qualified in first and second place respectively, just as expected from the start of the tournament.
Group H.
This was the group I was most looking forward to, as I am a madridista, and it featured Real Madrid from Spain alongside Al-Hilal from Saudi Arabia, Red Bull Salzburg from Austria, and Pachuca from Mexico.
From this group, I would highlight the 1-1 draw between Real Madrid and Al-Hilal in the first round and Real Madrid's 3-0 victory over Salzburg on matchday 3.
Although many expected Pachuca or Salzburg to qualify alongside Real Madrid, leaving Al-Hilal as the weakest team in the group, the Saudi side proved to be better than most expected and managed to finish second in the group.
To conclude this post, here is a table showing the matchups we saw in the round of 16, but I won't share the results yet because I'll leave that for a future post. I'll also leave an image with the brackets so you can see the possible matchups in the next stages of the tournament.

Hola, amigos de Hive.
Seguimos con la temática de fútbol y del Mundial de Clubes de la FIFA. En esta ocasión les haré un resumen de la fase de grupos, incluyendo los partidos de las tres rondas en los ocho grupos y los clubes clasificados a los octavos de final.
Trataré de no extenderme mucho porque son muchos partidos y no quiero hacer la publicación muy larga, así que haré comentarios de algunos partidos destacados.
Grupo A.
En el grupo A nos encontramos con Palmeiras Brasil, Porto de Portugal, Al-Ahly de Egipto y el Inter Miami de Estados Unidos.
De este grupo destaco los encuentros de la tercera ronda. Dos partidos muy disputados que terminaron en empate, dando como resultado a Palmeiras e Inter Miami como los dos clasificados a la siguiente ronda.
Grupo B.
En el grupo B encontramos a PSG de Francia, Atlético de Madrid de España, Botafogo de Brasil y Seattle Sounders de Estados Unidos.
De este grupo destaco dos partidos, el primero es la victoria de PSG por 4 - 0 a Atlético de Madrid en la primera ronda y la victoria de Botafogo por 1 - 0 a PSG, en un duelo que enfrentó a los campeones actuales de la Copa Libertadores de América y de la UEFA Champions League.
En este grupo resultaron clasificados el PSG y el Botafogo.
Grupo C.
En este grupo participaron Benfica de Portugal, Bayern Munich de Alemania, Boca Juniors de Argentina y Auckland City de Nueva Zelanda.
En este grupo resalto la victoria por 10 - 0 del Bayern Munich sobre el Auckland City en la primera ronda y la victoria por 1 - 0 del Benfica sobre el Bayern Munich.
Acá resultaron clasificados el Benfica como primero de grupo y el Bayern Munich en segundo lugar, lo cual resulto ser una sorpresa.
Grupo D.
Como participantes del grupo D encontramos al Chelsea de Inglaterra, al Flamengo de Brasil, al Espérance de Túnez y a Los Angeles FC de Estados Unidos.
De este grupo solo destacaré un encuentro, la victoria por 3 - 1 del Flamengo sobre el Chelsea, como segundo precedente en la competición de un equipo sudamericano venciendo a un grande europeo.
Acá resultaron clasificados el Flamengo como primero de grupo y el Chelsea como segundo, que representa otra sorpresa en el orden de clasificación.
Grupo E.
En el grupo E nos encontramos al Inter de Italia, Monterrey de México, Urawa Red Diamonds de Japón y a River Plate de Argentina.
Acá destaco el empate a 1 gol entre el Inter y el Monterrey en la primera ronda y la victoria del Inter por 2 - 0 sobre River Plate en la tercera ronda, partido que acabaron jugando los argentinos con dos jugadores menos.
En este grupo no hubo grandes sorpresas, más allá de la eliminación de River Plate en fase de grupos, siendo clasificados el Inter en primer lugar y el Monterrey como segundos.
Grupo F.
En el grupo F nos encontramos a Borussia Dortmund de Alemania, Fluminense de Brasil, Mamelodi Sundowns de Sudáfrica y a Ulsan HD de Corea del Sur.
Sin ánimos de ser sarcástico, uno de los partidos que más me gustó de este grupo fue el Sundowns vs Ulsan de la primera ronda. Un encuentro que, después de dos goles anulados y un despliegue táctico interesante del Sundowns, resultó en victoria de los sudafricanos por 1 - 0.
También fue muy emocionante la victoria por 4 - 3 del Dortmund sobre el Sundowns en la segunda ronda. Un encuentro increíble.
Después de ver estos partidos, yo sinceramente quería que el Sundowns clasificara a octavos de final, pero lamentablemente los resultados no los ayudaron, siendo clasificados el Dortmund y el Fluminense.
Grupo G.
En este grupo vimos jugar al Manchester City de Inglaterra, la Juventus de Italia, el Wydad Casablanca de Marruecos y al *Al-Ain de Emiratos Árabes Unidos.
Este fue el grupo más disparejo de todos, ya que tanto Wydad como Al-Ain no demostraron tener suficiente nivel como para competir contra los colosos europeos, sin ánimo de menospreciarlos.
De este grupo destaco la victoria por 5 - 2 del Manchester City sobre la Juventus en la tercera ronda.
Cero sorpresas en este grupo, ya que los clasificados fueron Manchester City y Juventus en primer y segundo lugar respectivamente, justo como se esperaba desde el inicio del torneo.
Grupo H.
Este fue el grupo mas esperado por mí personalmente, ya que soy madridista y acá jugó Real Madrid de España junto a Al-Hilal de Arabia Saudita, Red Bull Salzburg de Austria y Pachuca de México.
De este grupo detaco el empate a 1 gol entre Real Madrid y Al-Hilal en la primera ronda y la victoria por 3 - 0 del Real Madrid sobre el Salzburg en la jornada 3.
A pesar de que muchos esperaban que el Pachuca o el Salzburg clasificaran junto al Real Madrid, y dejaban al Al-Hilal como el equipo más débil del grupo, el conjunto Saudí demostró ser mejor de lo que la gran mayoría esperaba y logró obtener el segundo lugar del grupo.
Para finalizar la publicación, les dejo un cuadro de los enfrentamientos que vimos en octavos de final, pero no compartiré los resultados aún porque lo dejaré para una proxima publicación y dejaré también una imagen con las llaves para que vean los cruces que se podrían dar en las fases siguientes del torneo.
